Dragonflight Spec Talent Trees

Is anyone else concerned over the balancing of talent tree options?

Below is the counts of total talent points available to be invested into each spec’s tree. So there is a variance of how many total talent points open to select, with many of those requiring stacking (2-3 points before moving on to the next rows).

My primary concern with this is some specs having greater access to their powerful abilities after other’s sink points into 2-3 stacking talents because they have to in order to move down the tree.

Class DK DK DK Druid Druid Druid Druid
Spec Unholy Blood Frost Balance Feral Guardian Restoration
Total Talent Points in Tree 46 49 45 48 47 45 43

Should they all be say, 45? Or is variance acceptable despite having a set 30 points?

Fantastic feedback, thank you. You actually managed to avoid addressing 100% of what I asked. I wasn’t aware that the item in development I asked about is in development though so thank you.

I mean what did you want to hear? Yes they should all be equal. They probably will be once they’ve been finalized. All you’re seeing now is a mock up

They should all be the same, so they hold the same spending value between classes/specs.

And they should all have the same amount of 1 pointer, 1 pointer choices of 2 abilities, 2 pointers and 3 pointers.

That would be fair.

But more importantly… where are the next classes to preview at?
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since the 1st 2 classes were shown.

That’s certainly an improvement on your first response.

I’m of the mindset they should be equal, but maybe someone has use cases for them not to be.

Maybe they wanted to hear opinions from others on the community who actually care about the future of the game enough to actually do what we’ve been asked and “VOICE OUR FEEDBACK”. Blizzard directly requested player feedback on these features. Saying “WIP” or “it’s only beta/alpha” is disrespectful and unwarranted. We were asked for feedback, so we are giving feedback. If you disagree with someone’s feedback then voice your disagreement or move on, don’t try to tell them that they shouldn’t be voicing their feedback. Voicing feedback is actually exactly what we have all been told to do.

They aren’t even in any real state of being anywhere near finished.

Plus even if the positions of the talents were finished… they could still, and most likely will, do further number tuning between them where needed.

Yeah I know. The faster it’s addressed the better though. They already have two class concepts done, do they continue to make arbitrary trees or do they work on refining the two they have concepts for before they go and have to redo them all?

This might be worth getting into when they begin the Alpha test run. Right now we basically have some rendered artwork and a name of the Expansion.

I promise you they won’t be equal across-the-board. Look at talents now.

I can’t possibly know that for a fact I’m just going by every expansion

Even just death knights and druids are horribly unbalanced. Druids get a lot of their base kit for free, death knights have to buy theirs. Balance gets wrath, starfire, starsurge, and moonfire for free. Unholy gets death & decay and a 1 minute pet for free and that’s it. They have to buy their basic permanent pet status, their scourge strike, their festering strike. Guardians get bearform for free, they get frenzied regen, barkskin, and thrash. Blood death knights get again death & decay and deathstrike. They have to spend 5 talent points across both trees to get their stamina boost akin to bearform. So I’m hoping this is very much a WIP in the sense that they’ll spend a large amount of time revamping them, not just a WIP because they haven’t finished the others and it’ll be another BFA azerite armor scenario.

IDK i mean if there are 10 options at the bottom but due to the requiring 20 points thing your only able to every choose say 3 at a time, does it really matter if there are 10 or 5 options? I mean the spec with 10 options probably has greater flexibility but that difference in options does not guarantee tahts true or guarantee any other problem by itself really. I mean I’d more like to see those #s be similar more just for “each spec feels like it has a similar amount of room for creativity” than i am concerned about it for balance reasons.

i dont see why it should be homogenized - it’s possible they can deliver something closer to the intended experience without forcing themselves into an 'exactly 45" artificial constraint.

let’s see it in play first.

As it says, its a Work in Progress Mockup.

You are asking about statistics that are in a fluid state of development. Should things be balanced? Sure, that would be nice, but me personally, I’m just pleased to see what the system looks like in broad strokes. When it gets time to see them tested, then we can pull them apart and comment.

We don’t know what needs addressed yet, though. It’s literally an unfinished placeholder.

Very trusting considering Blizzard’s record.
One would imagine that if that was the intention it would have been the easiest thing to address in a mock up.

“Ok so the requirement is they need to all have 45 talent points”
“Ummm how are we supposed to do that sir, you can’t make us do the impossible”

I think it’s a valid point to be raised, even just for the odd chance that it isn’t on Blizzard’s radar to adjust.

What we have for dragonflight may not be the same as it goes live. With changes from alpha or beta it could be totally different.

That’s what I thought about soulbinds and soulbind energy!
