Dragonflight Season 4 Dungeon Changes Ahead

Yes!!! There are so many better games out there if you need to be challenged.

I think having some moderate levels of challenge in a MMO is good for the game, but turning dungeons into some weird e-sport just kills retail for me.

Having competitive ladders in a MMO makes zero sense to me.

The more the developers lean into this crap, and stray away from being an immersive fantasy world to play in, the worse the game has gotten.

I think what you’ve missed is the typical seasonal scale up will also be happening. A +2 will be roughly the same as a plus 12 in the old system, but it’ll probably be nearer a +18 because everything is getting scaled up.

The dungeons will be scaled for season 4 gear.

From the article a +10 in season 4 will be analogous to a +20 in any other DF season.

This already includes gear scaling.

Same way a +20 was the gear cap in DF seasons 1-3, now +10 will be the gear cap in season 4.

They basically just condensed +2 thru +11 into the new mythic 0 and now mythic+ baseline starts at +12 (which they renamed to +2).

If you think affixless +10 difficulty is too much for this game to handle them I have absolutely no idea what you want.

lol im immortal in val. hit champs div 10 in fort for the first 3 seasons before quitting and faceit 8 and lem in csgo. i made around 10k from wagers in total over a couple years. my “credentials” in challenging content is far superior to yours will ever be

I’m not sure this is true.
A +20 is planned to be the difficulty and scaling - of a current +30.
Not many people are clearing +30’s.

I mean at the end of the day - they’re all in Dragon Isles right - it’s not hard to hit the space bar 4 times and then burst of speed in a direction and wind up right at the entrance.

you’re completely right. wrath are my fondest memories of this game and it’s weird they try turning pve content into some comp scene. that’s like turning the cod campaigns into a competitive aspect of it

I appreciate your recognition and in that context apologise for my somewhat dismissive response, I’m not personally much of a fan of blizzard trying to make WoW an esport either. It’s clearly failed and the tuning at the absolute bleeding edge is getting to be a problem despite also being someone who plays pretty near it myself.

However I don’t think WoW being devoid of interesting or appropriate degrees of challenge is a good thing either. M0s being that challenge for those who typically dislike engaging in m+ for one reason or another feels like something Blizzard should at least try.

Just put this person on ignore, you will drive yourself crazy trying to debate a M+ forum apologist, they seem to have infinite time to make responses on these topics.

I just block them, and my forum experience has been so much better.

im 100% in favor of the new changes and i also think that if they want more ppl to push keys they should give an incentive to push into the 20s. i believe high 20s should drop myth track gear. i personally only do 20 because i see no incentive. will i make money from this game? no. will i get rewarded outside of some worthless io score? no. drop myth track for high 20s if they possibly want ppl to push high keys

honestly they did come around and really resonable. they actually dont like that blizz is trying to push the game into an esport when it’s already failed

Halleth has in many recent threads stated their desire for mythic+ and mythic raiding to not exist and anyone who disagrees with that is a filthy elitist who’s opinion should be ignored.

It’s a stance I can respect for it’s consistency but as I disagree with it I fall into the latter category as far as they’re concerned.

im obviously not an elitist because why would i need to be based on what i accomplished in much harder games. i dont think m+ should get scrapped because it is the only thing that to do outside of raids for current content. they just need to add more stuff to this game. arena, raids, and m+ isnt enough. as much as i hate lost ark they should jack some ideas from that game because there was more endgame content. i get bored of the raids and m+ at times and i tend to transmog/mount farm but that gets boring too. this is the only mmo that has kept me playing on and off so they’re doing something right with what’s currently around

Yeah I’m absolutely in favour of introducing more avenues of content and exploration, m+ is incredibly low maintenance as a concept so it disappoints me bliz have been resting on their somewhat wilting laurels.

At the end of the day a big reason I play this game is to work through challenging content with people that have over time come to be dear friends.

I think Blizzard’s main goal is to get players to repeat a small amount of content. I don’t think they’re really trying to make an esport of WoW, they just use the MDI to market the game, imo.

They have been tinkering with a lot of repetitive systems since Legion, looking for more ways to extend play time and engagement without having to create actual content.

The game as it stands today is filled to the brim with live-service type repetitive systems, with M+ being one of the most successful.

My main beef with M+ is that it is taking the place of potential new content. If the remaining player base is just happy with farming the same recycled dungeons over and over again, and they’re getting decent engagement from this activity, what incentive do the devs have for actually making new content?

I think systems like world quests, M+, Toghast just feel like the team is cheaping out anymore, using these repetitive systems in place of making new content.

WoW’s team is huge compared to most MMO studios, yet they have had major content creation issues now for over a decade.

I get that MMOs need repetitive content loops, but it just feels like modern WoW has really went full in on keeping players juggling various repetitive gameplay loops.

Retail WoW feels like a Korean MMO to me more and more, those MMOs are the king at repetitive game play loops.

idk about the korean mmo part lol. i played lost ark and that game was far greedier. the game actually had more content than wow currently does. it has dungeons, legion raids, abyssal raids, abyssal dungeons, pvp (lol), the cube, world bosses ( quite a few too not just 1 per season like in wow with the wearbear wood guy) and i cant remember the rest. if wow took ideas from that game ( minus the greed aspect) this game can explode with content and actually be much more engaging. they should also add a no timer part for m+ for those that wanna do that and for others that are let’s say really sick and don’t wanna possibly be the reason for bricking someone’s key. this game is awesome and i love the transmog looks and that’s one thing that keeps me in this game

This.

I think I may be in the minority, but I really dislike this new “old dungeon” rotation thing they did in DF. I’m not really nostalgic for re-grinding old M+ or regular dungeons.

I’d honestly be fine with more liberal use of palette swapped dungeons (e.g. WoLTK dungeons) and then just different boss encounters for the most part.

This change also seems very heavy handed - so we will see. I definitely agree with their takes on normal, heroic, M0. Did we have to rework everything at once? I think S4 is decent timing given it is just a content lull, but it still means waiting 1.5 years with something that isn’t working.

Also, the whole new expac every 1.5 to 2 years feels like we are paying more for less each time. Maybe it’s just a false impression given they are all 8-10 bosses now instead of the occasionally 1-3 boss raids. Still though, just on sheer count, dungeons and raids are definitely less than we’ve had in prior xpacs that presumably had less devs on the team.

They don’t want you farming past raids to get your best in slot even for the current one.

More dungeons that are done once and never again? Did you do m0 Dawn of the Infinite multiple times before it got nerfed?
