I must have gotten lucky literally dozens of times, because I would typically run LFR for 2-3 weeks on a toon of each class and get the weapons or trinkets I wanted, then do solo content like the original Mage Tower or Horrific Visions.
Personal Loot plus multiple bonus rolls on the right bosses means you are going to see the right loot drop for you sooner than later. That’s how probability works.
If someone else got the item you wanted two or three times, they could trade it to you the second or third time. This meant that popular specs were not at a disadvantage when hunting popular items.
Group Loot allows free trading, but it also ignores your party composition, so you could end up with 3 shields, glaives, or agility daggers when only 1 person has their loot spec set to that type.
That is statistically very unlikely. Bonus loot rolls were about 20-30% likely to get you an item, and there was indeed bad luck protection in place to prevent unlucky streaks.
No I think it was fine how it was, and should stay the same, 3 weeks for the first so players can get the achievement done and have something buy from it all afterwards to get that one piece you really want, like the Gavel because that mog is great.
But 9 weeks for all 3 coins, in a season that means nothing, in raids we have thoroughly cleared for the first 18 months of the expansion, many players will never stick around for that long and finding groups even for normal raiding will be quite a stretch for 9 weeks into a semi useless season.
No doubt many players won’t even do the raid, they won’t have a need, don’t care for mounts or achievements, so the pool of players will be somewhat limited to begin with.
The later it takes, the less time you will have to enjoy it.
I have been begging to get the augury trinket off fyrakk because for once, its top 4 spells in my arsenal of dps abilities and second, it has a cool effect. Im gonna miss it when i end up upgrading it. But i hope with dinar. I can buy an even better one that will last for a good while until war within
Gearing should be a continual process, but having some kind of vendor is also necessary to keep you from literally wasting weeks of your time.
A casual player might do Emerald Bloom for the 3 Veteran pieces every week, or a full clear LFR for example. But here you are going to be completely relying on RNG for the caches and the Group Loot system (where stuff drops that literally no one can use, and when something good drops you have a dozen or so people needing on it).
I have multiple toons that haven’t even gotten a Season 3 weapon or trinket at Veteran or higher despite running all world and queued content every week. We need a vendor for at least the Veteran track gear at this point, ideally Champion when 10.2.6 launches.
If you got it from a bonus roll, it was untradable no matter what.
That was just good RNG to get that. Even back in Legion, with all that, It still took a friend of mine 3-4 months to get shaman tier shoulders in Antorus.
But the bigger change that would impact that was a typical LFR group in BFA/Legion got 6 or 7 items per boss. In SL/DF, it gets 5.

Eleusia is going to willfully ignore crafting, since it’s existence in it’s S2/S3 state renders their complaints about world gear factually inaccurate.
Dinar system was akin to FFXIV’s BLP loot system. Blizz hated that because it made players get some BIS items way too fast and quit early so they stopped it. Ion doesnt like when you go against the grind machine and have an easy way out and dont play for the full 6 months of a season. Very sad of them to keep you on an infinite RNG grind.
How about explaining the dinar system clearly to those of us not privy to either using it in the past or knowing what is being discussed in the present.
