Dragonflight PVP Update

So I’ve been reading up on all the DF news and watching recap videos on YT and theres one thing about DF that rubs me the wrong way: the lack of attention to PVP. One video had the nerve to say this is good news and a win for PVPers to which i said:
Im sorry but that is hardly good news for PVP players. Every expansion they do the bare minimum to give us the illusion that they still care about PVP but they clearly dont, the games still hella unbalanced and what do they do ADD ANOTHER CLASS, people have been begging for more BG’s and how hard can it be to come up with the game modes or use the same game modes on NEW maps but no they just say nothing right now check back later. And FFS we haven’t had any open world pvp zones since WOD which I would hardly call Ashran a pvp zone since it was heavily based on pve, like how hard can it be to make another wintergrasp or tol barad zone with Dailys, a timed pvp event, and a small one-off raid for a chance at some gear. No this is definitely not good news for pvp considering ALL the efforts and changes they’re making to PVE.
Im just sick of blizzard abandoning a whole sector of their game, a part that I’ve loved and has kept me around since TBC. Idk i just want to see how other PVPers feel about the whole situation.

I agree. I just got into PVP myself this past month or so. I’m having fun with it but I clearly see a lack of attention.

Honestly the class rework is what is going to save PVP as well as soloque.

What makes pvp so bad in bfa and slands is that it is just a clunky mess, classes operate clunky and slow. Everything is very easy to predict.

If they lower the cooldown on ccs and make gcds faster this alone will make the game feel 10x better in pvp,

Fixing gcd will also make the rest of the game more fun to play.

With them making shadowlands it’s hard to think they care about the game at all.

I was watching an Asmongold “response” video the other day and he made a very good point, it went something like this:

I thought it was a pretty spot-on observation, definitely seems like PvP gets a fraction of the attention it used to get

It’s never gotten much attention. WoW has always had a heavy emphasis on PvE. I’m not saying that they should ignore PvP but what sells expansions for most people is the new PvE content, not PvP. I’m sure they will talk about new PvP content that have at later date.

so you are crying about no new bgs?..ok dont play and miss out on the best pvp that wow will have since wod…lol.

Ya they have the capability to appeal to all players. They did this for many years… not sure what the big front is nowadays.

PvP used to be 50% of this game.

50%.

Look at how far we’ve fallen. PvP was the cornerstone of this game for me, and I hate Arena and rated so I don’t engage with those.

I want new content.

No it didn’t. It might of been 50% of what you personally did but in terms of total content, it’s always been 90% PvE.

We had low-level battlegrounds with rewards and reputations around them.

You could hit lvl 10 and battleground all the way to max without doing a single dungeon or proper quest.

I’ve done it several times on alts.

Also PvP servers were a thing. PvP was always there in every avenue of gameplay except instanced PvE.

PvP was seen as an alternative gearing path. Now it’s gated by rated so, no more.

The community used to exist, doing casual battlegrounds all day.

Now? Only the odd improperly geared player or rated who wants to stomp casuals. An entire half of the playerbase is gone.

Make gearing quick/easy/accessible.

Nah, Ghostcrawler said that at various points in the games history (wrath?) casual pvpers outnumbered casual pvers. There has always been a spread, and it has shifted back and forth.

BGs were always cool in that you could just pop in whenever, no ilev requirement, no invites, no gearscore, no meta specs, etc. Just queue up and play. It was also vs players so it never really got boring/easy.

PVP lives and dies by class design and balance.
It’s either fun to play your class, or it isn’t.

It’s too early to make compliments or complaints about the state of PVP in DF, as we literally have no idea what is in store the any class.

I want dragon jousting!

Maybe you should take the hint…

It is good news.
More casual unrated and lower bracket participation due to improved gearing systems means overall pvp will be healthier for everyone

Adding new maps at this point with pvp the way it is right now would be like trying to stop a hemorrhage with a single tissue in how useless it would be in getting players back into pvp

The last bg they added is universally disliked and had to be removed from the rbg rotation. They absolutely need to address the root cause of declining casual participation before they add more seething shores

pvp is the only reason i play wow ill never set foot in to a m+ or raid.

Dude, lol…

If they take it too far it’ll go from everything being easy to predict to everything not mattering due to opponents dying in 1-3 hits through stacked off-GCD abilities, swinging from one extreme to the other.

They should cut back on the GCD a bit but “bomb macros” should never be a thing again.

This makes perfect sense if you think about it.

Assuming that PvP gear is accessible or PvP is otherwise equalized, PvP offers the most dynamic, low-commitment, trouble-free play experience in the game. No endless recycling of the same old maps with knobs dialed up on mobs being called “new” content, no waiting around for NPCs to do scripted RP, no loot drama, no idiots docking your keys, no laser disco twister mechanics soup… the appeal is so much more wide. The only reason PvP wouldn’t be popular is if the bar to entry is unnecessarily high and the ground floor of PvP (random BGs) consists of top geared players vaporizing everybody else.

I consider solo queue a huge win. I’m sure it will be a toxic cesspool but still a win imo.

Its more than no new bg’s dude. PvP itself is unbalanced like I said and instead of them address this issue they ignore it and continue adding more classes. My point was that they announce all these changes and new stuff coming for PVE but absolutely nothing for PVP, not even in interviews, all they say is nothing atm check back later. I understand the expansion is in early stages of development but they should of at least had some sort of answer or preview.
But hey please do tell me how this is going to be the best PvP since WOD(good joke btw cause that xpac sucked).
