Dragonflight PvP gear

This is the one thing that could bring me back to retail personally.

Has there been any other news/datamining on how this will work? From my understanding they are going with the MoP/WoD style of dynamic ilevel gear and that’s great, but my main concern about that is whether or not that ilevel upgrade will be active in Warmode.

I’m one of the few people remaining that really enjoy world PvP and in fact consider it the core of my enjoyment for the game, so id like to be in BiS PvP gear in open world PvP, not just PvP instances.

Now, I understand that the gear might be OP if it was just always boosted up in Warmode, making open world content a snoozer if everyone could just have mythic raid gear by popping Warmode on, so might it be intelligently adaptive based on PvP combat instead?

No one probably knows, but at the chance I’m out of the loop, what do we know?

I thought that they said unranked PvP gear was weaksauce out in the world and you’d get decked by people with rating and/or mythic raiders as well as keystone players.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

I mean specifically rated arena gear. Conquest PvP gear. Its supposed to up its ilevel to that of the top end when in PvP. No rating gating.

Im wondering if that means just in instances or in all PvP combat.

I think the issue they’d have with honor/conquest being strong in world content is that it’d end up being best-in-slot for the lower end players who don’t do mythic raiding, keys, or rated player, and they don’t want anybody “feeling forced” to do pvp for bis world gear.

I believe they said that the PvP item level will not work in the open world, but you’ll be able to upgrade the PvE item level in a similar system to what we have now.

Which is perfect imo

But not how wod PvP gear worked.

From what i recall, they said in an interview that they plan for conquest pvp gear to use its pve ilvl in warmode content

For simplicity’s sake, lets say DF uses current ilvls:

1/9 conquest gear would scale to 285 ilvl inside bgs/arenas and be 262 in warmode
9/9 conquest gear would scale to 285 ilvl inside bgs/arenas and be 275 in warmode

So you’ll still need to upgrade conquest gear with arena rating to get ilvl increases in warmode if i understood the video correctly

k?

What other questions aren’t we even aware we should be asking, given that it’s clear they are moving away from the “wod PvP gearing” they convinced so many people was going to save PvP?

It’s almost exactly like WoD PvP gearing, except now you can upgrade the PvE item level so you don’t hit like a wet noodle when doing dailies or whatever, and you don’t have to grind honour to use it in PvP. It’s a win win.

No. It’s not. That’s different, also the fact that PvP gear in WoD was active in wPvP.

How long will it take someone to earn a full set of honor gear in Dragonflight? It took a day or two in WoD.

Also, what will be the difference in ilvl between honor gear and conquest gear? In WoD it was the equivalent of 3 Shadowlands ilvls. I can’t see that coming back.

You didn’t have to grind to upgrade PvP gear in WoD to use it in PvE. PvP gear was fine for world content.

In WPvP yes, but not all the time like it is currently in Warmode. I’d assume Dragonflight gear will also scale when engaged in WPvP.

If you’re an actual PvP’r and not somebody who just spams randoms DF PvP gear is looking fantastic.

They haven’t yet confirmed if it will activate in world pvp. They have only said it will use the pve ilevel in war mode unlike how it works now.

“I want to crush lowbies and undergeared people, but i can only do it when i have the advantage of all my cooldowns and maximum pvp gear disparity. Otherwise i might have to git gud, gross”

Sucks that they have confirmed that pvp scaling will not apply to warmode i guess.

PvP realms were a thing. You could not turn that off. And 700/710 ilvl was better than world quest gear which was 675 (but varied depending on rng).

Translation: “If you like the current system you’re going to love this one. We can get rid of the overwhelming majority of PvPers who are left. We need to do this.”

The overwhelming majority of PvPers have always been players who spammed randoms. I see you have plans for helping Blizzard along their path to turning this from the biggest game in its genre to a tiny hardcore game with a cult following. And you have to do it now, before Microsoft takes over. This is your last chance to prove that the game would be more successful with a tiny fraction of current players!

You’re about as smart as the rock I kicked on my way into work today, bud.

There are quite literally zero complaints from people who push rating, arena for fun, and/or do random bgs, concerning the gearing system.

Nobody likes SL gearing, and DF is most certainly not SL gearing

You are not quite as smart as a rock yourself.

PvP participation is at its lowest point ever.

These people are a tiny minority.

Yeah, people are pretty gullible, aren’t you?

We don’t have enough information to know exactly how it’s going to work out, given how much information they are withholding at this point. And considering that Paen has come up with not only a number of ways it doesn’t resemble wod PvP gearing, and both of you are saying that only rated players matter, and Ion said prior to Shadowlands that Shadowlands PvP gearing was going to be exactly like wod gearing, which got a lot of people to prepurchase…

Anybody who isn’t concerned about what we don’t know at this point has an agenda like Paen’s.

lol calling people who only do randoms PvP’rs is like calling people who only do LFR raiders. It’s technically true, but…

The people who loved WoD gearing most were people who wanted a path to easy gear, they didn’t actually care about PvP, and I can tell by how upset you’re getting over the PvE item level.

DF PvP sounds great, I’m pumped.

Do you not know how to read?

They’ve explained it very simply how the gearing is going to work.

You get honor
You buy honor pieces
You get conquest
You buy conquest pieces

No upgrading unless you want PvE item level. The ONLY thing not explained was if it’ll work in warmode or not.

The amount of people that solely wpvp is as small, if not smaller than the people who push rating.

Go ahead, continue to spew garbage

The overwhelming majority of players who do PvP have always been casuals who spammed randoms.

LOL. So nobody did PvP in wod because they liked PvP. That would have been the wrong reason to do PvP, according to your agenda. They only did it for free gear. It was so unfair that you couldn’t trash randoms with your L33T geared premades to drive them away from the game as you do now.

Yeah. People who did PvP wanted a fast path to PvP gear. Seriously, how dare your designated victims be able to fight back?

I’m sure you’re pumped, because you know what’s coming is going to continue funneling resources to you personally. Get rid of the majority of players. They don’t count.
