What would be a good way to start making steady gold with Dragonflight Professions as someone who is new to the expansion? I boight Dragonflight during 10.1. My Evoker main is a skinner and leatherworker. This toon is a miner and herbalist. Gathering gives very little gold per hour, and I am completely on where to start with Leatherworking. Right now, I have 60 skill, and bought all the recipes from the trainer.
I tried making a Frosted Armor Kit today, not realizing it would only be quality 1 due to my low skill and knowledge points. Thar was my bad, but I am not sure how to even gain more skill and knowledge points. Most of the unlearned recipes I have are locked behind random pvp wins, renown, timegated barter bricks, random pvp wins, and knowledge points. Iām genuinely at a loss. What should I do if I want to start making steady gold with this profession, and if thereās nothing, what would be a better profession? Should I do pvp for those random recipe drops?
This is giving me anxiety and making me want to uninstall.
LW lacks a āspammableā recipe as far as i know. Unlike for example tailoring with the fishing hat. It is pita to get to 100 base skill. I mostly did it by doing tool/equipment WOs for alts, using there mettle/sparks. Those ingenuity sparks still give 3 skill pts as far as i know.
Make also use of the no mats public WOs. If it got mettle or just the spark, go for it. Buy the cheapest mats you can get and fill it, donāt look at the rank outcome. The ones listing those usually want to scam you anyway. Is it costy? You bet! But it is pretty much the only way to go i found with LW. If you can manage to get some decay recipes, the fact you need a BH run to craft them does keep them nicely profitable.
Now as to your grippe with income. There is one thing you should consider with gathering profs: your stuff sells! I really cant remember having to relist serevite ore! Of course the prices have gone down since launch but it still sells.
Thank you, I apprecuate the post, but I donāt think it helped that much.
Thatās very unfortunate.
There are hardly any work orders on my realm, unfortunately. Right now, thereās one.
I did do one today for a pair of pvp boots. I bought the recipe off the AH for cheap. I managed to get 2.3 k. But, thereās only one order left atm, and the recipe requires a lot fo Barter Bricks.
I would love to get some decay recipes. Wowhead says they only drop from bosses in Brackenhide Hollow. The drop rate seems really low, though. I found one recipe on the AH that costs 17k gold? Idk if itās worth it. Idk if people will actually buy it. Maybe I jeed optional reagants or Sparks too idk.
It sells for very little, like the person below me said. In my OP, I asked if there was a good way to make gold with Dragonflight professions as a beginner. If not with Leatherworking, is there any other option?
You did say āliterally any other activity.ā Can you elaborate on that? Are there any activities you know of that a Dragonflight beginner could do well with?
Just as a point of interest, you can spam things in LW, but you have to do it with RNG. You can use a spark from an alt to craft one item, then you can recraft it until you hit max. Recrafting is not guaranteed points (I want to say like 1/10 chance at point maybe), but it does give points so if you have the money and good luck there is that route. But it is mostly a desperation move.
In this thread, I am only hearing awful things about Leatherworking. Is there any other profession thatās more beginner and solo friendly that people here can recommend? Thank you.
They are secondary professions, but cooking / fishing yield good gold per hour.
Once youāre able to ice fish for the tuskar, those fish alone can be a good source of gold per hour.
Gralās veneration (I think) is the best recipe to use to make feasts right now but thereās plenty of other ways to make gold with cooking too.
Making snow in a cone (which the recipe is easy to get it lays on the ground out in azure span) can also be profitable. Just calculate if crafting is worth it or not before buying the materials.
I have LW and LW is good if you have everything maxed out to a degree and are able to get good multicraft / resourcefulness. Otherwise⦠it isnāt very profitable.
Although with LW it is nice to fulfil crafting orders for folks and make my own gear. Thatās how LW makes a good chunk of gold is with crafting orders.
Alchemy can be good but the market fluctuate a lot but they do get a dracothist xmute that can be good if fully maxed out.
World quests is what I was going to say too⦠in the wednesday-saturday wqs theres usually 4+ quick world quests that reward 600g + (eg rock climbing or photography ones - take < 2 minutes). Additionally if you have rep with the fishing people and the fish treasuress are up in the areas they are common they are often loaded with vendor trash that one run an area full of treasures will usually net 2000+ gold worth of vendor trash.
I do World Quests, but they require a lot of alts on the same faction and server to make real profit. Iāve also heard that theyāve been nerfed.
I didnāt know that the Tuskarr Tackleboxes gave so much gold. Iāll try that out. But in the meantime, Iām just looking for a beginner profession. I havenāt heard very many suggestions, and the ones Iāve seen donāt actually give much gold. Iām looking for something thatās a bit higher than gathering, which gives very little.
Flying WQ have not been nerfed as far as Iām aware. The amount of gold I get from them has been consistent the whole time Iāve been running them.
Personally I do professions to add to my regular open world gameplay, experience the added depth of profession ātalent treesā, craft my own powerful gear, craft my guildies/friends powerful gear, participate in a community of crafters, and make gold on the side. I make more than enough for my own needs, and Iām very happy to have the luxury to not think twice about buying consumables and mats and to be able to tip my crafting friends generously for their investment and hard work.
It sounds like you have specific gold-making goals and motivations, but as far as Iām aware, thereās no ārightā answer. Different profession specializations are good in different ways. Market demands shifts and change and rise and fall based on many factors. All I can recommend is pick the professions that inherently interest you, engage with them for their own sake, and then watch the market to look for opportunities to leverage your investment to maximize your profit. Best of luck to you.
Sorry if you thought i was trashing LW. I was trying to encourage you on your levelling by being a fellow traveller.
My LW is at the moment my most profitable crafter. Decay recipes are really in fashion this season! The slimy and torn ones in particular. I usually take materials for toxic patches with me when i go to BH to fill in a shoe WO and at r3 these sells very well. I donāt know the market on your realm but at 17k for that recipe, I have recouped that cost and then some on mine. Hope that sentence makes sense.
I am really happy with the professions in DF. I am also very satisfied with the gold i am making in this expansion with professions. Certainly better than the dry the last few have been.
if you can do dps, skinnig and mining or herbalism, if you are a healer mining and herbalism, you wont progress in any crafting profession to make it worth.
the only people who are making profit with their professions are the people who were there day 0.
I started late and have made a decent amount of gold with Skinning/LW. Itās true that just after expansion or just after season start is most ridiculously lucrative, but if you have modest ambitions, are dedicated to collecting KP, and find niches in the market where you can apply your specialization you can find a place in the ecosystem in the medium term.
Sorry I didnāt respond. Looks like almost everyone recommends crafting orders, but legit nobody is doing them on my server. This thread has convinced me that the only good way to make gold on a crafter would be to level another toon a higher pop server like Tichondrius.
Also Tuskarr Tackleboxes, like someone recommended earlier are actually FANTASTIC. Iāll do those.
I think they need to make some meta groups for crafting orders cause theyāre pretty slim on my server too ⦠on my scribe I still get draconic treatise but, public orders in this toon (JC) is just a bunch of orders with no mats for tiered medallion settings with a 20 g tip (basically fishing for people who just click quickly to make himself a quick buck, hence why I think they need to go back to no public orders w partial mats but ANYWAY)
