I’m sitting here thinking about the leaked document that outlines Pre-Patch, Release etc. I saw the blue post last week about things that will go away with Pre-Patch and figured the timeline still tracked; they give notice about things going away then I started to think that sometime next week we should be getting an announcement that Pre-Patch will start in 4 weeks from then (end of October)…or who knows we might get some notice this week about it. What are your thoughts?
In Beta there are many spells that are NYI and a couple broken quests but based on the other things I’ve experienced; they are pretty far along. We are only seeing 2-3 builds behind their main branch so we will see a better picture in the coming weeks.
People are using class trees as an indicator for how far along into development they are. Which is really shallow. The very first Alpha build had raid mechanics. That wasn’t normal.
So far my experience of beta has been pretty smooth.
For example I love how the profession overhaul is subtly baked into the opening experience with side quests and professions NPCs being a key focused in one of the first fist small towns.
My only real note was some voice acting is still to be done. Such as one of the main Dragons that comes in with Wrathion at the start of the intro questline.
Also I am concerned about the Zeppelin that takes you there… that is going to be crowded beyond belief.
I have seen analysis based on readiness of the raid for testing (it’s not), of mythic+ (unavailable), PvP, crafting (nowhere near ready), and other criteria, that suggests it’s a month behind where Shadowlands was in the development cycle.
Raids and dungeon testing is coming with their own server same goes for any group content instanced based. (I know this because I am in the beta and is public knowledge that rated solo pvp is being tested and soon raids and mythic plus)
They know the leak is out, meaning they will very likely announce the pre-patch date alongside the expansion launch date. If they announce one without the other and it corresponds with the leak, any doubts about it will disappear.
But yeah, they are definitely announcing it before the end of September.
Suspect it’ll be announced soon and probably be released once their happy with classes
Like suspect the pre-patch could be at least a month this time round which well tbh considering the changes to classes would probably be good idea as well Evoker mains will need time to learn the class and other people who play classes that got huge changes will have to get used to new abilities, rotations and/or playstyles
As someone who plans on trying to main Evoker, definitely will need the prepatch month length. As someone who’s mained a druid since 2005 with the side off of playing shaman (Still have my lightning totem in my inventory on him <3) the fact that it’s gunna play like a mix of Resto Shaman/being like a ranged DH will be new
Yeah honestly feel more comfortable having a month to learn Preservation in Shadowlands where everyones super strong then Dragonflight where everyone is weak again and learning the new dungeons and what not
Theres still a lot of kinks to work out, but they seem to be pretty communicative this time around. Key phrase there being seem to be.
I have been playing on the beta for roughly a week now, and so far there are still some bugged talents (Ascendance being the main one that sticks out at the moment) but they appear to be on top of getting them fixed when its brought to their attention.
There still needs to be numbers tuning as well. There are some specs doing upwards of almost 80k single target sustain while other specs are even struggling to perform a quarter as well.
All in all I would say we’re a month away from pre-patch. Two months if they want to play it safe. All in all I am optimistic. Cautiously so, but still optimistic.
we’re supposedly so close to pre patch and then release. Its really frustrating seeing how little communication some classes are getting compared to others for their new talent trees
Yea we already have a ream dedicated to all end hand content testing. Right now it’s PvP soon to be M+ and Raid. I have my classes created on this realm for M+ and Raid testing; just waiting on the test timeframe.
We have an end game server already on beta for getting our toons ready for this testing. As someone who did legion, bfa, sl and now df beta testing df is by far better along than than bfa and sl. Legion is debatable
