We all know the stuttering issue with the client… and many other issues I have read on the forums… Reddit… Ect…
Even the newest hardware has the same issue. I have noticed that my CPU temperatures are INSANE no matter what settings I put the game on.
I have an ASUS ROG Strix Advantage Edition (1440p 165hz). The laptop is overclocked via ASUS
CPU- Ryzen 9 5980hx
GPU- RX 6800m w12GB Vram
Retail WoW runs 90-95 c in performance mode and turbo mode.
Classic Runs 75-78 c.
Thermal Throttling limit is 105 c.
I have a few questions. My first one is what temperatures are you experiencing? My question second is what else are you all experiencing with Dragonflight? Stutters? Crazy FPS drops in Dragon Isles alone?
Cap your frame rates using either vsync enabled or set the max foreground FPS to something reasonable like 60 to 100. Don’t bother setting it higher than your refresh rate. If your screen is a 60hz, just use vsync enabled. If you have like a 144hz screen, you can cap well below that. Also, classic uses a fraction of the CPU/GPU resources vs retail.
Basically, if you’re playing uncapped, it won’t matter if you lower the graphics settings because then the game will just render frames faster and still end up using roughly the same amount of power assuming you don’t hit a hard engine FPS limit (think wow’s is like 300fps).
Laptops always run hot. The last laptop I gamed with, every single modern game made the cpu/gpu run at the 85C thermal throttle limit.
I have the same issue. My husband and I both play WoW, and we have identical computers (hardware, monitors, etc.), but mine is constantly kicking up the fan because it’s overheating. Installed a temp monitor and even when the temp is fine, the fans are kicking on when flying in Dragonflight areas with the new flight system. This only ever happens when I play WoW, and only started happening once Dragonflight came out. I disabled all my addons, and it’s still happening, so it’s something to do with my settings on WoW itself, not mods. (I’ve also blown out the entire case and gotten rid of any dust, so it’s not a cleanliness issue.) Any ideas appreciated.
What are you guys playing on if you don’t mind me asking? Hmm that’s interesting… Just yours? I don’t have any add ons as well. I have my fps capped at 165. No matter the settings it doesn’t change the fps issue that’s known.
The fan mode from ASUS I use is turbo atm… Performance I don’t get a good cooling… Turno has kept WoW lower… Haven’t been in Dragon Isle… I was waiting for my laptop cooler to arrive but it came damaged and used when purchased new…
