Dragonflight is a good expansion

They did a lot of things right in this expansion there’s plenty to do and and I feel like every time I play I’m rewarded for my time put in and it makes me want to come back . The story was a bit weak at first but I think even that’s improved quite a bit.

I just hope in the next expansion we get better Villain(s) and maybe a story that makes you care about the the threat right from the start.

I hope so too but they need to up the writing a few notches. The jailer was ABSOLUTELY one of THE WORST “villains” ever in any form of entertainment and not just WoW. Fyrakk and Iridikron work well as villains but it still doesn’t feel much like Warcraft. Most of that is because once again we don’t have much back story, it seems they need to introduce more and more new characters to build stories but they are blowing through characters almost as they are introduced (Jailer) and Fyrakk and have been doing that since Legion with very little holdover to actually build a longer term story with. Hopefully they will fix that with Iridikron.

Their writing definitely needs to go up a notch or 3.

Jailer’s left nipple > arthas anyday.

Fight me.

It should’ve had it’s own boss fight.

It kinda did if I recall legion correctly. They foreshadowed the jailers strong nip game with the first boss of antorus.

Pretty sure the intermission was to kill a nipple gun on each side.

People need to stop blaming shadowlands for how poorly dragonflight is doing. Its loaded with cringe content on timers and there literally is no reason to even log in except for raid dungeons and to a lesser extent pvp .

DF started off amazing.

Then I realized how profoundly stupid the new profession system is. And outside of the raid, we were farming vignette mobs for a currency with a vendor (again?).

Then Forbidden Reach … with vignette mobs for a currency and a vendor.

Then Caverns … with vignette mobs for a currency and a vendor.

Now the pre-Emerald Dream … using the vignette mobs WE JUST DID at the start of THIS expansion (???) for a currency and a vendor.

I have no other expectation than for the actual Emerald Dream to be nothing more than… vignette mobs for a currency and a vendor.

Like… I get that people have rose-colored goggles for when it was FIRST done on the Timeless Isle (despite what an insult that place was to the players). And then when it was recycled again right away in Tanaan … ok, WoD suffered from lack of content, you can understand running right back to the “used drawer.”

But what we’re seeing here is “phoning it in” on a whole new level. And the worst, ABSOLUTE WORST, part of this system is that now those vignette mobs have SOOO much health, if you’re coming back late to revisit this content, you can’t get ANYTHING done because no one is around! You can’t solo these mobs. And no one cares about it anymore. Once you have the mount and the pet (laff), there is ZERO reason to go to these places.

How does Blizzard so deeply NOT understand the concept of “world building?” You can’t build a world, if 99% of it is USELESS.

Not sure. Raids in SL had more depth not just fire, fire, fire and fire.

M+ was decent but augmentation did enrage some eSports folks.

Zones? Zaralek was awful. And I did not find any zone yet competing with zereth mortis tbh.

It’s a mid expansion nothing special. Gearing was good and not too much gateing is what they earn credit for

if it wasn’t for talents and maybe dragonriding, i think shadowlands was better

Sorry that you love dragons that much. For me this expansion is just a filler and little story with small island. I was hoping for something more than this. Something like a new gearing path that is exciting and new.

DF has so far been a barely OK expac. It COULD have been a decent expac without DR, the “crest” upgrade system and the overly complicated profession systems. The story and visuals are fine, open world is ok, classes and talents are ok but it’s all dragged down by the base systems. It’s horribly alt unfriendly, gold generation was greatly disrupted by the trade mats AH merge and the gearing system ensured the new areas (FR & ZC) turned into ghostlands within 3 weeks. Overall 4/10 (8/10 base for story and zones, -2 for DR, +1 no Pathfinder, -1 for professions and -2 for gearing system). :speak_no_evil::hear_no_evil::see_no_evil:

Considering what its following, the bar is already set extremely low.

Dragonflight is absolutely a good expansion. I might even call it pretty great.

Hopefully the team takes some lessons learned to balance out the narrative a bit and make 11.0 an excellent expansion.

Dragonriding and colourful zones in the sun already make it great for me.

All its missing is daddy denathrius. He was a swell villain.

I feel like Dragonflight deserves to be appreciated, but I personally don’t favor it over most expansions.

I agree, but I think dragonflight in general suffered the honeymoon phase again and the ones supporting DF and standing by it, are typically those that like just logging in to raid and that is it. Then you have the ones who love to collect etc so they’ll be entertained for a lifetime so to speak.

Ultimately the team thought using a template design that usually should only be on latter patches to act as catch up, is now the staple.

In the hopes of putting out content faster, they’ve now just dished out boring template open world event after event that isn’t well done and not enjoyable.

Can’t say I have high hopes for 11.0.

IMO DF is the best expansion they’ve ever had, with Legion at a close second.

Yeah chasing mounts, pets, toys, xmog… fun!

Chasing them … the same way, day in, day out, patch after patch after patch after patch … SUCKS.

At least they learned from ZM and we’re not having 100 pets and mounts with EVERY ONE of these boring events.

But endlessly farming vignette mobs … and having to hold a currency that takes up pack space … just isn’t fun after the FOURTH or FIFTH time in a row.

I’ve been playing (too much honestly) since vanilla and this is hands down my favorite expansion by miles.

Hahaha I hear ya. Though I was surprised how easily people are entertained in this game, I kind of envy it to be honest :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup it’s a criticism I’ve heard echo’d by a growing number of people even in-game and on the interwebs. Said people are noticing the trend and are tired of it patch after patch. It’s a shame 'cause the world itself is awesome. I just think this developer team is still not able to find its footing on how to deal with any non instanced content. So they throw whatever carrot chassing thing to do in the hopes it’ll stick.

I remember in some interview how they are aware and know that they need to step up their open world game but honestly don’t think the stuff in dragonflight is it.
