So many cool cosmetics, nifty pets, murloc backpacks, mount, gametime, and more. I bought 2 on Tuesday, One for myself and one for my G/F who plays the game with me. Certainly worth the money and the smiles. How about you? Have you already bought yours? Are you waiting to see more about Dragonflight? Do you believe it to not be worth the money? I mean a LvL 60 boost and 1 month of game time is $75 all by itself. The mount makes it 100. 2 pets brings it to $120. 8 Cosmetic items easily brings it to $160+, and that doesn’t even count the early access before launch. Thoughts?
As far as I know you don’t get any early acess. But yea if you care about those cosmetics and got the money for it enjoy. Personally, I wouldn’t trust any video game company with a pre-order nowadays and with mmos I prefer waiting a week or 2 anyway after launch to start playing to dodge the lags/bugs/queues? that are bound to happen.
Would have sworn I saw the early access placed somewhere in the sales details when I pre-ordered. I may have read it wrong, or they may have hot-edited it ![]()
I just bought it this evening and my wings have already disappeared
the cost was worth it to me because of the pet and mounts, and I know I’m going to be playing.
the wings disappearing is an annoyance that shouldn’t happen.
I went with the murloc backpack because then it takes the oversized staff off the back of both my tiny mages (mechagnome and vulperan). My G/F put the wings on her gnome hunter and all they do is hide her bow. May be a minor glitch. If it persists it would certainly be worth opening a ticket to fix it before the launch this year.
i miss the bonus that have the other expansions pre-order like the stickers for Overwatch, cards skins for Hearthstone, Diablo transmog, Starcraft portrait
Yes I got the epic edition myself. Because it is my last chance for Blizzard. Now as for the worth. . .
That’s very subjective. Yes the items usually go for those prices which you are correct but are they actually worth that value to the player?
As for me.
- Buying the expansion for $50 was just the base of it which I am fine.
- Getting the mount, would I have for 25$? Well I REALLY like this mount I’ll be honest but even this mount for 25$? I am iffy on that idea. But instead it is 20$(Being 20$ more than base), much closer to what I am willing to get it for.
- However I get the 60 boost with it for $20? Okay that was worth it.
- The two battle pets? Both 10$ if on their own? I would not have spent a penny. They are just an extra bit of icing on the cake.
- The helm? Meh, almost the same as pets, it’s nice but I don’t care. Same for the wings.
- Hearthstone? I like the almost light effect for my paladin but it feels very cheap outside of the sound effects. I love the sound effects!
- The 30 days game time. . . This is the big difference between Heroic and Epic. Yes, it’s just 30 days game time but this is something much less subjective compared to everything else! If you are like me and pay the sub with irl instead of gold, this is literally just a 15$ sub for a month. But that’s just it. I would already be paying this anyway next month. So what does it do? I’ll tell you. The difference between Heroic and Epic is $20. Part of that $20 is the month sub which is $15 I’d already be paying. Thus the true difference between Heroic and Epic is honestly $5. So in honesty I am paying just $5 for that hearthstone, wings mog and helm mog? Now that’s a price I actually don’t mind at all!
So yes. I don’t mind spending $50 for the expansion(And that one pet), $20 for the mount and a 60 boost with a pet on the side and then $5 for the wings, helm and hearthstone. Is this a massive buy? Yes obviously. But I was expecting it already for the expansion’s release anyways so that doesn’t affect me near as much.
Edit: Just to give the value of the items as I see them, this is how much they are worth to me, to add that subjective point.
- Mount I say is worth $10-$15.
- Level boost is worth about $10-$15. (Lets be honest, as fast and easy as it is to level now? Charging any more is a crock.)
- Each Pet to me, is worth $1. Why so low? I RARELY ever use them.
- Hearthstone? I say $5, more if it had a better visual effect.
- Helm? $1, it’s okay but it’s also just a helm. . .
- Wings? $2. Not one because multiple colors but again, lets be honest. These wings need work. If they had been like full body length wings I’d of bought this in a heartbeat rather than dissecting and thinking about it like I did.
The wings have awesome colours to them, I’m impressed with that.
But the model doesn’t scale well with most races.
Like they look great on gnomes, because they are the size of the gnomes.
Unfortunately there are 20 better races to play, so the wings aren’t going to get much use unless they scale appropriately per race.
The scaling that’s required is like that SL shield they scaled down in 9.0
Or male Orc shoulder armour scaling back in wotlk.
Yeah the wings REALLY need a scale up.
its early access to the items, like the mogs and the mounts, compared to buying the physical boxed version.
normally id preorder and preorder the boxed CE, because i like collecting them, but ive lost all faith in Blizz. i have no plans of buying another expansion, or even playing classic anymore. i was super excited about D4, and even that i no longer have faith in, so…
might this feeling change? possibly. but as of right now, i have no plans or desires to play anything from Blizz here on out. im only here as i still have game time till sept, and im bored since i dont have anything else to occupy my time and brain, besides watching crime docs on my second monitor.
I know the feeling. I full on cancelled after the TBC launch debacle and what they did to Arthas in that cinematic. The only reason I am even back is because I feel like they are changing with this expansion finally but that said if this expansion flops I am gone for good.
I almost didn’t watch the expansion release video. And I grew up on Warcraft 1,2 and 3 then WoW. So yeah they’ve gone downhill massively.
What are you referring to here? I don’t recall.
Punishment for buying store items.
In the prepatch moment before TBC Classic launch they shortened it down to only two weeks, bugged the PVP honor system and then went to counter said bug and over-nerfed honor. So we went from what was in original prepatch a long period of time to get good pvp gear through new honor system to like 7-9 days with an overly nerffed system.
The point is it was MASSIVELY rushed with very little care for the players or the health of the game. And then on top of that they added all of these items to buy like the boost, mount and toys. This felt like Blizzard turning Classic into a cash cow.
And don’t get me wrong. I am not arguing against some minor add ins or them making money. I mean they are a company. But it felt like such a massive brand withdrawal that it just went into the negative for me. I felt so burned by that that even today I have issues trying to log into TBCC and leveling a character from 60 to 70, heck haven’t hit 70 yet because of it. I feel so disgusted every time I log into my character there that I have to force myself. Luckily for me they are doing that 50% exp boost soon so I’ll take advantage of that heavily.
Edit:
Didn’t notice you quoted the Arthas part too.
The cinematic where Anduin becomes free. From the sword comes SUPPOSEDLY what is left of Arthas’ soul. They just turned him into a little anima puff. And on top of that they had Sylv monologue about it in front of the two people closest to him as they stayed silent watching what was left of him fade?!
That was the most utterly disrespectful thing I have ever seen in any media towards it’s older audience ever.
If you’re talking about 2006-07 I don’t remember any of that being an issue. I guess ignorance was bliss back then. But I also lead a multi-gladiator pvp guild, it was probably small potatoes to us? idk lol Life was good is all I remember ![]()

Okay so to explain.
In the original prepatch for actual TBC we had 2 months with the new honor system while at 60. This brought out loads of fun BGs and pvp and you actually were able to gear up. It was fun and enjoyable.
But in the TBC Classic prepatch. They shortened it down to only 2 weeks. It was bugged on release, they went to fix the bug and nerffed the honor so hard that you could barely get anything within the remaining week plus. Mind you they screwed stuff up so bad it took a few days. . . out of the measly 2 weeks we had.
6 weeks back then but yeah pretty much this.
Cool dude, proud of you bud.

Ok, ok. I think in my ignorant bubble we all had what we needed from vendors already. I think you explained it well there and it’s bringing back some memberberries.
I recall some sort of issue with wanting to buy a second pvp wpn on my rogue.
