What’s the best way to lvl engineering in df?
Create a new character. Level it to 60. Do the skip for 5 sparks. Craft epic bracers for 15 skill points. Rinse and repeat.

the best way to lvl it is to not lvl it.
its garbage. i have 100s of points in and it just sucks.

If only the bombs could be used in instances.
I leveled mine so i could make thermal scanners and rockets for my hunter. Otherwise, yeah, it feels pretty useless. Even the tinkers are underwhelming.

1> Don’t. As with every expac before it (except Vanilla … it was fun in Vanilla), Eng is a massive pita, with no worthwhile rewards, while being a HUGE gold sink in the process. >((((
2> If you still decide to punish yourself, the best way to level to 100 is the same as every other profession.
a> Level to 50 doing whatever. Getting to 50 is easy.
b> Once skill-ups are hard, look in your “unlearned” section for stuff that DOES have a skill-up. Ignore all the things that require Sparks and/or Mettle. You just want something BASIC.
c> For Eng, that item is the “Suspiciously Ticking Crate.” When you still have it unlearned, you can mouse over the “i:information” section and it will tell you what tree you need to unlock it (Explosives-> Short Fust).
d> Craft that item all the way to 100. Easy.
Enchanting, LW, and Inscription are the only three that still follow this same rule, but all three are REMARKABLY harder. They need changed.
Eng you can easily get to 100 … it’s just useless. lol Spec into Tools. At least people need those.
But it’s sad that a second, third, or even a fourth Alchemist is more valuable to your account than even ONE Engineer. >(
