Dragonflight Collector's Edition

So…I have never ordered a collector’s edition box set before in all the years I played this game (because no monies)

Now that I’m in the position to do so due to a good paying job. I wanted to order the collector’s edition. I check the blizzard store and sold out so I went to ebay and spotted a seller selling the box set for 220 dollars.

My question is. Is blizzard not making anymore Collector’s boxes or do I just need to be patient until they restock it? I am willing to pay 200+ for a collector’s box.

Hmm…I’m not sure if they would restock on that…

Doesnt make sense to me why they wouldnt.

You are basically throwing money away, they restock and people would buy.

I mean i have the epic editon (obviously since i have the tmog on my portrait)

But i would love to have the box art/physical things too.

It was originally announced as being a limited quantity. They obviously could make more but I wouldn’t hold my breath. You options are most likely to just accept you won’t have it or pay double (or more) to a scalper.

Ill weigh my options. 220 isnt completely a rip off va 400 dollars.

The Collector’s Editions are and were made in limited supplies. They were only listed on the Blizzard Gear Store this time around as a limited item as well. If you did not pre-order it months ago, you’re going to have to pay the scaler fees unfortunately.

To my knowledge there has never been any sort of restocking. Once they are sold out, they are sold out. That being said, in the past they have sold out rather quickly. More recent expansions not so much, probably why they limited it to the store only.

Erixi beat me to it, but every Collector’s Edition to date has always been limited supply and have never restocked after they sell out. If you want the box and physical goodies (art book, pins, mousepad) you’ll have to find a third party seller somewhere, and prices are only going to go up the longer you wait. If you’re okay without those four physical items, you can buy the Epic or whatever edition in the shop and get all the digital goodies the CE has, but for a lot less money.

I waited too long, too. Was undecided, didn’t know it was a limited supply, and didn’t know they were shipping out November 1st.

Now I am seeing them for as much as $475. It bums me out because players like me would have loved to have had it because we like WoW, not some greedy folks who just want to make money from it.

Oh well. My fault for waiting. They paid for it and are just playing the Auction House IRL.

The collectors editions are all about artificial scarcity. They make a specific amount and sell them. Many are purchased to be resold at inflated prices but Blizzard seems to have a sense of pride with that.

Some of the items from the collectors box can often be purchased individually though.

Sorry that you missed it.

I’ve bought CEs of vanilla through I think Cata. They used to sell out extremely fast, but now have been much easier to get. I didn’t order the DF CE, but I noticed it was on the Blizz shop I think up until November. Unless I didn’t notice it was sold out, I think it was available for pre-order all the way up to the early November ship date.

And as others have said, they have always been limited, so unless there are extra batches found, it is doubtful they’ll re-release it. I don’t know if Best Buy still gets them, but I recall a MoP CE sitting on their shelves like a year after launch. You could always check retailer shelves (unless it was a Blizz store only launch).

It was; they sold it exclusively through the Blizzard Gear Store.

Ah, gotcha. Maybe that is why it was available for so long, since they didn’t have to send shipments to stores. Thanks for clarifying.

purchased most previous collectors from amazon or gamestop for $129/tax/ free shipping… this time around it was ONLY offered from blizzard store.

$129 + tax + $25 shipping… was like $162 US

also was being shipped from over seas… and look whats happening to everyones boxes. they are all damaged. thats extremely sad. BLIZZARD dropped the ball hard on this one.

not enough supplies & terrible shipping plans.

so i waited. and now sold out and not offered from retailers.
LOL. way to screw the system blizzard. guess this is what i get for trying to save $35

least i didnt get a damaged box.

look on ebay for those lovely $400 boxes lol.

Blizzard has become extremely stingy with the collector’s editions as of late, and this seems to be the worst expansion production for any WoW expansion so far. It’s not even listed on Amazon, and not even being sold at Gamestop this year. The last two expansion collector’s editions I’ve bought have been from walking into Gamestop and getting it in person.

This year they aren’t even selling it. And who knows if Blizzard has even sold any to stores this time. It’s unbelievable why they have become so stingy this year. It’s literally impossible to buy right now unless you are bidding on ebay or paying the dumb scalpers $500 for a buyout.

GG, Blizzard. You failed tremendously with this collector’s edition availability. Heck, there are only a handful on ebay anyway, which tells me they didn’t make nearly enough to start, not to mention it’s not even listed on Amazon like all the other expansions were.

THIS 100% Blizz failed horribly this year.

To bad Blizz doesn’t treat its reselling of items like cities and most professional sporting teams do to scalpers. Could make for interesting PR stories from blizz corporate doing something. Guess they’ll leave that up to microsoft for next expansion.

They didn’t. It was sold exclusively through the Blizzard Gear Store.
