I’m pretty sure that the Zandalari Trolls just weren’t really the type to abandon or not support the reconnection of the Troll Tribes. Reunification though? Sure. Don’t think they’d be all in on reunification
I think the implication we’ve had is that the Zandalari Trolls have always had their hands in other Troll tribes to some degree. I think Exploring Azeroth mentions all the Troll Tribes (or at least a warrior from each tribe) get together to have a big tournament in the Gurubashi Arena every year.
And then the Zandalari were there with the Gurubashi and Hakaar.
Then every 6 years, the Trolls have that all Troll meeting. I can swear we even saw a video of this in Cataclysm.
Zandalar should have been just this type of Troll that was always around since Vanilla. Similar to the Cenarion Circle in scope. I.E. They always have a presence as a major force in Azeroth and it’s defense.
Wasn’t there old lore where the kaldorei stole a lot of the trolls magical talents, like enchanting weapons and armor, which I think at point it was said that trolls were the first to even come up with the idea of enchanting stuff to give it more power.
The trolls always came off as being the ones with the superior intellect, but than againn, blizz always had a habit of flopping harder than a fish out of water on trolls and their intellect
Do this codex explain what makes a creature or being a dragon or dragonkin?
Like, we have drakonids, tasareks, now drscthyrs, dragobflight also introduces the slitherdrakes and velocidrakes and that one that looks like a chimera i forgot the name, then there is the storm dragons of the broken isles, faerie dragons, and wheter or not cloud serpents are dragons?
The dracthyr were a byproduct of Nethalarion experimenting on the mortals and dragonkind to create a superior dragon killing race. I think quests in Zaralek Caverns suggest the Slitherdrakes were another product of Nethalarion. Because they were initially afraid of us when we first met them
Could be misremembering about the Siltherdrakes though
Yeah, Voodoo in general is seriously powerful.
I’m not actually sure if it’s ever been classified as a specific “type” of magic. I.E. Life/Death/Light/Void/Arcane.
On thinking of it, I wonder if Mojo is basically Anima, just filtered and removed a specific way.
Tasarek + Mandatory Order Magic if they choose to serve the Dragon Aspects = Dragonspawn
Tasarek who sides with Primalists (or serves Vyranoth) = no forced magic or they can CHOOSE to accept Elemental power up
Ascendants = mortals who choose or are forced to become draconic via dark spooky forbidden magic (khadgar names fel or void)
Wyrmkin = many races claim mortals who choose to serve the dragons are changed into this draconic form
Elemental Dragons are Ordered Dragons who “went back” to an Elemental Plane or places infused with Elemental energy
There was NO MENTION in this book of ANY of the “non western standard” dragon form aka Slitherdrakes, Velocidrakes, etc, and NO MENTION thus of those forms being related to Cloud Serpents, Pterrodaxes, etc
Cloud Serpent section does not claim any relations to dragons, mentions a folk story in-game that was used in Chronicle
Dragonhawk is included for reasons I cannot fathom, also aren’t dragons
“Voodoo” should not be so recklessly used in the worldbuilding
“Voodoo” should simply be “magical practice + religious devotion” in-game as it is IRL instead of some discrete category of magic qua a specific cosmic power
So you’re telling me these writers had the perfect opportunity to recontextualize their old comically racist “ranking sentient species by intelligence” worldbuilding bits and move that part of the lore to the modern era, but instead they decided to double down on “Trolls dumb, Nelves intellectually superior” BS ?
According to what non-racist, non-Eurocentric criteria anyway ? What makes Trolls less intelligent than Nelves exactly ?
Or is that just Khadgar being racist and expressing favorable bias towards Nelves because they’re part of the Alliance ? Then can we 1) stop pretending Khadgar is a neutral character, 2) stop having him spearhead neutral narratives & stop forcing Horde (and so Troll) players to spend entire expansions questing with him, 3) write Horde-biased equivalents of these crucial ancient/cosmic lore books so that the Human and Elven perspectives aren’t the only ones we have on historical events and the wider setting ?
Welcome to the actual intention behind “It’s just POV”
Blizzard gets to add and reaffirm all the racist tropes it wants into worldbuilding with zero authorial or narrative accountability because “tee hee, it was khadgar”
Be careful what you wish for, imagine a blood elf scholar in a horde perspective book also says: elves are superior to trolls and blood elves are superior to the original elves.
I mean, arguably so should Druidism if we want to go with that path.
I don’t really think “real life” religions should be translated into fantasy so carelessly at all.
Heck, I’m pretty sure Shapeshifting is something that stems from D&D.
We have wrathion that is around 12, not onky his dragon form looks considerably smaller compared to adult dragons, other dragons call him Whelp all the time, maybe this is simply them mocking Wrathion and him not being an actual whelp, but the size thing still bothers me.
Chromie is another weird one, in the save chrome scenario from legion, chromie has a dragon form, but said form is a whelp as well, but by DF Chromie is also an adult dragon, and i know Chromie appears in vanilla, so maybe just time travel shenanigans here.
dragons at 10 feels like a response to Golden being caught liking tweets accusing Wrathion/Anduin shippers of INSERT FORBIDDEN WORD HERE who used “wrathion is only a child” as a cudgel against the shippers, where she posted an apology I think this year or late last year, even though she was caught years ago lol
