If we’re purging the ranks let’s replace characters with like, the squads of horde/alliance people we adventured with in Jade Forest. If the story is gonna be told like its a single-player RPG with me as the main character, gimme characters that I can reasonably imagine myself hanging out with.
Jaina doesn’t chill with me at the tavern after the quest is done, she’s too important, and also a head of state? But like that raccoon loving dwarf, sure, he’d probably be down to hit up the Exobaar after work
With that in mind I disagree with Enekie’s suggestion that Ji go to the shadowlands forever. Yes, he is sort of a loser, but the fact that he seems to canonically be a loser means I can reasonably believe he hangs out with me, unlike Genn or Velen.
And have all my likes for the concept of bringing back a whole cast of Nazgrims and Taylors who ‘quest’ with us over multiple expansions and show how the faction everyman handles the unfolding events.
yaknow… after hanging out with the scions in ff14 I started to remember the small dudes I hung out with in WoW no matter how brief they where, they stood out and they where fun brief fellas with there own things going on. Not saying id like a Scion situation but a fella or two to hang out with that you can go back to and just chill with sounds all gravy.
Unlike the Stormrage Brothers, Tyrande was never the Chosen One, never destined for greatness. She was the Girl Next Door/Nurse Jenny character who got dragged into somebody else’s Hero Story, ended up carrying a lot of said Hero Story, and then got left, with no training and little support, to guide the remenants of their people in the aftermath of a quite literal APOCALYPTIC EVENT all on her lonesome with Boyfriend Furry deciding to develop plot-savvy narcolepsy and edgy incel Boyfriends Brother going full edgelord and being locked in the basement.
And what little support she did get was split evenly between ‘she can do no wrong’ and ‘everything you do pisses me off’ from the remaining Priestesses.
Tyrande needs medication, therapy, and a few good decades on a beach somewhere far away from the people who pushed all this onto her plate.
Well she was the Chosen One later on, it just turns out that she was Chosen by the dumbest god in the cosmos who got pranked into sending all her faithful to mega hell and cannot even bestow enough power to kill 1 undead ranger dude
I can’t wait until 13.0 when they reveal Elune never actually existed and everything she did was actually a chaotic trickster god named Bingo “The Big Bad” Berry.
Oh and then there’s the whole nonsense idea of everyone going to super-hell because Sylvannas and the Jailer borked it up or some such .
They messed up the the way things work in the afterlife, ok fine. But to tell me that every soul that enters now goes to super hell instead of some temporary purgatory is just insane. That’d be like the DMV getting shut down and then because you can’t get your license renewed you get sent to supermax prison immediately. The glowy purpose robots can’t bring the souls to the arbiter for judgment so they just throw them into the maw is just daft.
I want to care about the story because I like the setting despite itself, but Blizz makes it impossible. It’s like watching a movie/series and giving zero s about any of the characters living or dying because they have the depth of soggy paper.
I actually liked how Mekkatorque became the King of all Gnomes and basically united the Mechagnomes and normal Gnomes together. I just really wish they updated Mechagon City and added vendors and NPCs to give that to the Gnomes as their new home since Blizzard seems content with never giving them back Gnomeregan.
That would have been a cool win for the Gnomes in my opinion.

The Night Elves left the Lore Hole and look what happened (is continuing to happen) to them.
The Draenei also left the Lore Hole and then promptly went right back in. Their racial leader became an Atheist for like a second. It was a weird time.
Hey, leaving the lore hole worked for us. We got a space battleship and we took it back into the lore hole with us, so our defenses are impenetrable now.

MMO Champion leaked some of the dungeons. I notice there’s a revamped old dungeon presented as its own separate instance.
I want to say that’s them trying to copy Final Dancy Fourty-two, but I’m not sure. They’ve done dungeon revamps, sure, but they don’t often preserve the old one when they do.
Worgen left the lore hole to lose their home to Sylvanas. Then went years in silence only to come out of the lore hole once more to:
Lose their second home to Sylvanas, becoming homeless in the streets of Stormwind
Lose their racial identity by having their flag changed to the Stormwind flag with darker colors.
Have all the unique themes that made them different from Stormwind given to Kul Tirans.
And finally have their racial pride crushed by having their heritage quest say, “Oh yeah remember how for 10 years you have been saying your curse grants you strength? Welllll forget that because it just plain sucks and needs to die out with this generation of Worgen.” Feels good man.
And then they were promptly pushed back into the lore hole.
Are you talking about Tyrande or Ysera? I think they changed Ysera in Legion, though as to why I don’t know. Because reasons? If you know I would like to know as well.
I am not sure when they swapped Tyrande’s voice but I know it was in Legion that would rather have hot pokers jabbed into my skull than listen to her squawk about Malfurion.
I think it was ‘eh’. The Gnomes themselves were always held by a democratic process, with Mekkatorque as their elected leader. I don’t inherently mind the ideas of the Mechagnomes attempting to instill Mekkatorque as their own leader to whom can guide their zany plotlines further, but I don’t think it would be acceptable amongst Gnomeregan to allow a cementing of authoritarian rule.
But yeah, it was pretty nice.
