I see a lot of complaining and stuff, but I don’t mind a lot of these changes.
As a Prot Warrior, I think some of the nerfs were justified. It literally could face-roll through most content if played properly without needing a Healer, INCLUDING Mythics.
As someone who LOVED the “Shockadin” playstyle way back when, the concept of Paladins actually getting a DEDICATED form of damage at a distance like that sounds awesome like me and I personally can’t wait to try it out. It’ll be nice to be able to do it as the dedicated DPS spec this time around rather than Holy like we had to before!
Some complaints I saw about classes not getting any upgrades/buffs seemed odd, considering those classes are at the top of the M+ charts. Doesn’t really seem like they need to be buffed further, but idk charts can lie.
I do actually get a bit irked that the “Pathfinder” achievements that some of us worked pretty hard for during those XPACs are now just being given out… But there is a “Feat of Strength” tab for a reason in the Achievements. It’s for people who did extraordinary things before they were just handed out. I actually wish the Feats of Strength tab had more to it, that way the more veteran players could have the satisfaction of having done something when it was actually difficult to do.
All of the criticisms and harshness from other people aside, I personally look forward to playing the new update. I only have one question:
Since Dracthyr only has two specs still… When do we get Dracthyr Tank Spec (We have Devastation and Preservation, so… Keeping the naming theme maybe something like Conservation)?
It’d be so awesome if we could finally get our first Mail wearing Tank. Have some cool survival abilities like, “Iron-scales” or something like that, something unique to their size like 2h and Shield for their weapons… Increased passive elemental/magical resistances with active abilities to reduce physical or something (most tanks are the opposite). The possibilities for a Mail wearing tank are so extensive too because it hasn’t been done yet. It’d be awesome to see it happen. Currently there are only 3 classes in the game that have all 3 roles available to them, Monks, Druids, and Paladins. Where’s the love for the Mail wearers?
Yes, farm Botanica in Outland. Get a rep tabard from your hometown and run it on repeat. Took like 7 minutes per run for me on a belf pala getting Silvermoon rep last week.
I don’t have to be dilusional. Tell me how many attacks we have that directly deals with us swinging a weapon on the ret spec, the spec where we have a 2-hander.
Here i will tell you
Crusader strike, which has a talent node to swap it to templar strike or crusading strikes (making it our auto attack, but we lose out on windfury)
And templars verdict which we need to talent out of for FV. ( I won’t even count JV because that is a straight downgrade to TV)
So in our rotations in this build we only need to be in melee-ish range (alittle more then 5 yards due to the class talent increasing auto/crusader strike range) for crusader strike. All our other skills don’t use our weapon graphically, has more relation to spell use then martial, rendering our weapons just there for the looks. Swap it with a staff and take out crusading strike/related talents and we can be a full caster.
What makes this worse is that ret is so removed from weapon use, that 1-hand and sheild is competing with 2-hand use.
If you want to be technical, almost all of them. Wake of Ashes, swing your blade, TV is melee. FV is basically the same thing but with a negligible range increase, still considered melee. JV is still an ability people use, and is also melee. Crusader strike obviously, HoW is still you throwing a hammer, just a ranged ability. Idk why you’re so against Rets having an actually viable dps kit now, I feel like you’re just a poser at this point. Play ret in any form of competitive pvp and try to convince me they aren’t just watered down warrs worse in every way at this point.
And now I cant spam reduced CD living flames to recover after Ive kited out the person trying to kill me in arenas. Thanks for yet another nerf and some meaningless changes as a side dish. Really feels like a DRAGON hero class! @blizzard
I disagree. I really like it aside from the bugs and lacking ST output vs AoE output. Lots of good changes but could have been better in some ways. I still don’t think its bad, personally I think its better than where it was.
Disagree hard. I think it’s a fair alternative to just cookie cutter copying warrior leap…
I have played on the PTR and again, hard disagree. It feels good, it feels very nice for avoiding mechanics and still outputting as well as chasing targets down. Also, this last bit…
Is just absolute nonsense…
No thanks. I rather have this than just copy Warrior Abilities.
Why don’t you just roll Warrior if you want leap so badly then? I can make smarmy, half-arsed, comments too. I am sorry you don’t like it but so far you are the one being ratioed XD
Does it address my classes lore charecters using fighting differently then my paladin, making me ferl that my paladin isn’t the same class as them? (Turalyon, tirion, and liadrin)
No.
Does it address that 70% of my skills not even need to be weapon swings?
No.
So I will ask you, when will we get to feel like paladins? Warriors of light? Or will we just keep feeling like priests and our plate armor and 2-handers just decorations?
Yep, in the Ret Tree on the left side of the spec specific talents.
It’s called Jurisdiction. Makes Final Verdict and Blade of Justice 20 yards. So aside from Crusader strike all your core rotational abilities are basically ranged.
Oh no that is not ranged. NVM I was thinking there was a way to make them like mages or soemthing… MOst melee classes have an extended range talent. That is shorter range than the evoker… Less than mid range. Ranged is 30yds+
That is like saying Blood DK’s are healers. Or Enhancment and Elemental Shamans are healer. IT is just not correct. Your kidding yourself if you think 20Yds on 2 abilities makes you ranged.
Yeah, not full ranged, just mid ranged personally, I like it. /shrug
I think it’s a neat gimmick for Paladins and prefer it over just a copy paste Warrior leap. Gives me a lot more flexibility to keep dpsing while getting out of stuff or moving around and such.
