Thanks for killing the fun pres evoker spec and relegating us raiding evokers to boring blossom builds. With the upcoming set bonuses in 10.1, there isn’t going to be “creating a variety of viable builds” it’s just going to be bronze in m+ and green in raiding. And green raiding is so painfully boring. Dream breath, emerald blossom. Dream breath, emerald blossom. Dream flight. Rewind. With the next tier set it’ll be firebreath, spiritbloom, dreambreath, drop more emerald blossoms with the essence proc. Then stasis all the blossoms you get from the essence procs so you can drop even more blossoms. Very fun and engaging gameplay. While also making certain cooldown juggles we do now with lifebind/TA/verdant embrace obsolete and thus removing a layer of fun and challenge from our rotation.
I’ve said this elsewhere but evoker is a HERO CLASS. It is your first healing-based hero class, no less. There should be a build option that’s easier for newer players to pick up that does less healing (green) and a more challenging high-risk/high-reward build for experienced players to play. (bronze.) You’re taking the hero class I enjoyed playing because I had to review logs to figure out my own build, stat prios, and figure out how the talents/cooldowns interacted to really start to shine in raid fights - and dumbing it down to “press emerald blossom on cooldown and obsidian scales as a defensive.” Do you know how satisfying it felt to finally suss out the right build, learn how to do my rotation properly, learn how to manage my cooldowns, and start parsing? It was incredibly satisfying. And that is how a hero class should feel and be. People think bronze build is just flinging out TA and then casting reversion. That’s the bulk of the filler, the same way other healing classes have filler casts. The rest of it involves knowing staggering charge abilities, when to use TA and spread echo and then use VE to spread lifebind and etc. etc. I could go on but it’s very clear if you go look at the warcraftlogs of top parsing prevokers.
Not only are you wiping out the bronze build, but you’re doing it in the MIDDLE of the current season. After those of us who built our gear sets built for bronze build, specifically. My raid drops, my crafted gear, everything were tailored towards this build. You think I’m going to bother swapping everything around in the middle of the freaking season? No, I’m going to just go play a different class. What happened to “major tweaks only during major patches so everyone stays on the playing ground they’ve gotten used to” eh?
This isn’t going to address the healer imbalance in m+ at all, it is only going to effect raiding evokers. Go take a look at the warcraftlogs top healer rankings. It’s not like how it was the month after launch. It’s extremely varied, prevokers aren’t dominating anymore.
You’ll also notice that all the people that go “I’m going to reroll evoker because my class sucks” or “just delete my class because evokers do it all better anyway” or “evokers are overpowered” or “my new healing tier set sucks compared to the OP evoker tier set you’re making” don’t actually seriously play evokers, do they?
You’re turning a fun, unique HERO class into a less interesting version of a druid.
Actually let me rephrase that. You are taking a hero class that has only 1 fun, functional spec, (because dev evoker is a mess and you all know that given you’re revamping it in 10.1) can’t use transmog, constantly deals with bugs, is a laughingstock in the game because of the models, can’t even fly as a baseline even though it has giant wings, has had almost everyone swap back to their original, more fun, less buggy classes, - and turning it into a less interesting version of a druid. One of the major features of the expansion, and almost everyone I know has swapped from their evoker back over to something else. And frankly, these changes and the changes on the 10.1 PTR show exactly the direction you’re going in, so I’ll probably follow suite. On the plus side, this is the last major rant post you’ll get from me about it because I’ll be playing my shaman instead. Though you all need an option to figure out how to freaking swap profession progress between characters because I busted my rear to get my alchemy tree filled out and that’s 3-4 months of work going to waste when I do swap mains. I’m not even going to touch the new profession system on my other chars because I don’t want to risk this happening again and losing even more work.
