I’m trying to get the Warrior set from heroic Dragon Soul, so I set the difficulty to Heroic-25 and went in. When I got the tier gloves from Warlord, though, I noticed they were the Normal-25 version, not heroic. I went out, double-checked my settings, and even saw that the raid portal had the skull head on it. I went in again and it’s still Normal-25. I changed it to Mythic-25, same thing. I tried Heroic-10 and Mythic-10, still nothing. WTH is going on? My server is Terenas-US
dragon soul locks you to a particular raid ID. if you enter and kill a boss on normal, or otherwise get locked to a normal raid ID, you’re locked to that for the week and can’t enter it on heroic until the raid resets. if you’re not sure what happened I would just double check when you enter next week that you’re on heroic before you kill anything.
There’s no mythic, but I believe LFR is separate and you can clear LFR in addition to either normal or heroic.
Dragon Soul also does lack a Mythic difficulty. The first raid to have Mythic was Siege of Orgrimmar.
Unsure on the other issue, as I do remember being able to run multiple difficulties in one week, but I might be wrong.
What?! That’s the dumbest thing ever! Not what you said, of course - but the fact that they made it so it literally can only be run on 1 difficulty setting per week. That’s infuriating.
It’s an old raid. It implements an old lockout system.
The developers are content with how it works, since they documented it. So it’s not a bug, no matter how much you don’t like it.
As such, your report will be disregarded by QA, who are not allowed to accept bug reports about things which are actually working as designed. If you want to ask the developers to change how lockouts work, you need to submit a suggestion using the in-game feedback tool or on an appropriate forum, like Dungeons, Raids, and Scenarios.
According to that blizzard support article, dragon soul should be boss based locks, and you can switch back and forth between normal and heroic for each boss, you just can’t do both. That is slightly different from how I had explained as I thought it was an instance based lockout.
