Dragon Shards of Knowledge are a big deal for professions and the way they are currently implemented is causing confusion and annoyance. Killing every rare we see and looting every single dirt and chest even at capped renown just for a chance at them without knowing how the drop rate functions or what the soft cap even is if there is one.
Are these supposed to be rewarded for doing content and we are guaranteed a certain amount from content each week and it drops off after that number? After what number does the drop chance lower? Are these hotfixed to now have a hard cap since the early dirt spam that had me looting 10 - 15 in one week? These items are very important for our early profession knowledge and the mettle provided is a huge benefit for crafting. It would be extremely handy if we could have proper confirmation on how their drop chance work. I know it’s my own fault for caring so much but thinking that every second i’m not actively killing a rare or looting dirt is a wasted chance at these because no information is provided outside of us seeing them drop for ourselves doesn’t feel like a great design.
Dragonflight is all about logging in and doing the content you want with the biggest rewards coming from weeklies outside of instanced content. Dragon Shards of Knowledge not having an apparent hard weekly cap and having abysmal drop chances goes against this concept in my opinion. They also do not make much sense in what they are for and how you find them. These are purely for crafting but you get none from crafting anything in a week and they come from everything but.
Can we please have the actual drop chances and mechanisms explained to us about these or increase the drop chance and hard cap them to a certain number a week assuming that hasn’t already been done. Yes this is self inflicted but it would be nice to not have an extremely vague system like this in the game.
