So golf clap to blizz devs on making this soulbound and untradeable. You guys rock!

Because its only worth 1 point, no big deal.

Thats the worst part. They’re epic quality and are pretty rare, but only give 1 specialization point. For skinning I can find special skins that give 1 point and they’re pretty common. There’s also a +3 skin thats a little rarer but not nearly as rare as the Dragon Shards. They’re both blue quality.

They should be 5 points at least.

…

The +1 items are limited in the number you can get per week (5, for gathering profs, which is what I assume you’re talking about). The last one you get (the 6th) is upgraded to +3, every week.

What’s sad is the people complaining, but who don’t even understand how the systems work.

The neat thing about the non-shard knowledge items is you can use it immediately.

The shard has to be turned in at a specific place and just wastes a bag space until you make a special trip over there. If it was BoA (given the rarity of them and they aren’t on a weekly limit anyway), the burden would be more understandable.

This has to be either wrong, changed, or doesn’t apply to people who are behind and playing catch-up.

I have been getting 1s and 3s all week. Just now I skinned a ton of mobs and got another +1, and I am 100% sure I have gotten at least 1 3 this week already. I skin a lot.

There is an exceptionally rare +1 that can be farmed in unlimited quantities. But it is not, as you originally phrased it, “pretty common”.

Dragon Shards can also be used for any profession, though. If I get something from Mining, it only works for mining. If I loot a Dragon Shard, I can use it for any profession (even ones I don’t currently have).

Dragon Shards also give you way more mettle.

Since you wrote this post I’ve gotten 6 of the +1 items (Curious Hide Scraps & Sturdy Bones) and an epic quality +2. Just from skinning mobs while doing the world quests and 1 Grand Hunt over the span of maybe 2 hours.

They are common dude. In the same amount of time, I’ve gotten 1 Dragon Shard from a Disturbed Soil.

Also who cares about Mettle? The game literally drowns you in it. I think I have like 2,000 in my bank.

I have 39,000 or so mettle never used it once.

The shard you choose what you put the knowledge in, hence the travel to the quest guy. Dunno how they could have done it differently.

Curious Hides are limited to 5 per week, yes. You won’t be getting any more this week.

No, that would be Saturated Bone. They’re extremely rare, that’s why you only got 1.

No, that would have been the Large Sample of Curious Hide, which was the 6th weekly loot after the 5 Curious Hide Scraps.

They are capped per week. You won’t be getting any more Curious Hide Scraps this week.

Dragon Shards are rare. Just like the Saturated Bone. That’s why you’ve only seen 1 of each.

Everybody screaming about how hard Mettle was to get on the forums the first 2-3 months.

If you choose not to use the good profession equipment, or to purchase the extra skill point books from Rabul, that’s your choice.

ok but the average casual player has between 30-75K mettle even after using those so…

Yet there were 2-3 months of bellyaching about how hard mettle was to get.

no the ‘average’ player doesn’t have that much mettle - my main has less than 10k actually 2156 to be exact.

Would seem you are not playing properly then?

I think the main issue with these shards is that they only give 1 point of knowledge. It’s epic quality, so I think it should give at least 3.

I don’t see how you’d have 10k+ mettle unless you’ve been specifically farming it and not spending it.

I think I’ve collected something like 15k, maaaaybe 20k, mettle over the course of the expansion, and that’s with looting and turning in roughly 100 Dragon Shards (which give 50 each), where the hell are you getting 30-75k from?
