Dragon riding isn't an immersive experience

I know many people enjoy dragon riding because it feels like flying and i respect this opinion but i must offer my own, its not immersive. Old flying felt more immersive as you moved the same way as you would through water or lava, giving you a feeling of immersion in the world. Its hard to feel immersed in dragon riding as you have to manage things like height and velocity which ruins the immersive feel of flying we’ve had since tbc. I hope older flying comes back soon so we can have the immersive feeling of being immersed.

Id say that those of us who love DRing would say the exact opposite.
that having to actually do something to fly makes it more immersive.

What’s your definition of immersive?

feeling like you’re immersed in something like say water. dragonriding doesn’t give that experience whereas old flying does.

the fact that you can AFK with old flying literally proves the lack of immersion.

That’s…not what “immersive” means in the context of video games.

Is she referring to baptism?

okay but am i wrong that dragon riding doesn’t feel like being immersed in water due to its mechanics?

admittedly, drowning would definitely keep one on the edge of their seat, lmao

How… how is it immersive for flying to feel like simming? O.o

…why they can’t just add old flying to drag isles, i don’t know. It’s way slower.

I see. So there’s a small distinction:

immerse

[verb]

im·merse [i-ˈmərs ]
immersed; immersing

1 to plunge into something that surrounds or covers especially : to plunge or dip into a fluid
2 [ENGROSS] completely immersed in his work
3 to baptize by [immersion]

immersive

im·mer·sive [i-ˈmər-siv ] .
-ziv
: providing, involving, or characterized by deep absorption or immersion in something (such as an activity or a real or artificial environment)

So yeah dragonriding is a lot less immersed as experiences go. Old flying is fire and forget, thus it is way less immersive. You’re technically correct, and that’s the best kind of correct, but in context, nah dude, that’s not what we mean when we say Dragonriding is much more immersive.

I mean… neither dragon riding nor regular flying should ever feel like you’re in water, when you’re in air… The density difference is massive and should thus result in considerable gameplay difference.

I still give this troll post a 10/10 for using immersive this way lol.

Don’t you lecture me with your $30 haircut and fancy words! Old flying is more immersive due to it having the same mechanics as swimming!

Yes. That’s the point. Flying in WoW has always just been swimming through the air. This, if not more accurate, is at least more engaging.
