Dragon Riding is Borrowed Power

Change my mind.

If you wanna put it this way, fine. But it’s more optional than the borrowed powers we’ve been getting in the last expansions. Like, it doesn’t change how you’re gonna perform in combat.

It’s missing the “power” part of being a borrowed power.

If DR doesn’t follow us into the future, it’s at most a borrowed convenience.

What.

the base will decide.
Bliz said if we like it enough, its likely going forward.
if we dont, why would they keep it?

Why would they keep it if the players don’t like it? Cause they’re blizzard. Duh.

But you had a choice in the last expansion on what borrowed power you wanted by selecting the covenant with the right power.

I mean, I guess if you want to be technical about it. But that’s not really relevant - one of the biggest issues with borrowed power in the past was that it, by its nature, could not be carried forward into future expansions without ruining the experience for new players who were not present to strengthen said borrowed power when it was relevant

This is not an issue with Dragonriding, as all of the glyphs that power it up are available from the get go and only take about an hour to gather, if even that, if you know what you’re doing. The only thing that would be missing is the extra abilities and passives you unlock as you progress the story, and that’s as simple as just adding them to Dragonriding baseline when the new expansion comes out

tl;dr: Dragonriding doesn’t have to be borrowed power because it does not suffer the same trappings as past “borrowed” powers that prevent it from being carried forward into future expansions

In my experience this is an indication that the person has no interest in changing their mind. They just want an argument.

Umm, no it not…. Did I change your mind?

So is gearing for raids.

what mind?

also, who says they’re not coming with us?

They’ve said quite a few times in many recent interviews that content added going forward is going to be carried through expansions. They’ve realized adding systems then abandoning them hasn’t done the game any favors.

Now whether they mean that or are lying to us only time will tell.

Sometimes not even that, they just want to make a post in the forums out of boredom.

Unless I am missing something, and how I hope I am, it does have the same trapping as it can only be used on the Dragon Isles. So old world or new expansion Dragonriding will only be useful in DF, right?
Please correct me if I am wrong, honestly I have scoured google/wowhead hoping to find something I missed to use Dragonriding in old world, having so much fun with it.

Well you can mess with the meaning of power like some have in the comments, but, we are borrowing it for the expansion. At least until Blizzard announces DR a permanent feature.

For those that argue the power side of this are wrong. It don’t need to add to your dps to be a power. It’s very fast flying with a talent tree that makes it more powerful as you level it.

So as it stands DR is a borrowed power. Just not the one we are used to.

You can’t use Dragonriding in the old world yet. They’re talking about eventually making that possible in the future, maybe

Darn, but thank you for the info. Hope they do expand it, the races alone would be worth it.

It will remain. No one will be willing to go back to regular flying mounts after this. While there will be holdouts, the old flying mounts are being retired, certainly.

Other than to sit in town in the air afk. That will be their primary utility.

That’s the issue I’m seeing.

They gave us a cool toy with DR, good luck taking it away now.
