Dragon Riding in Old World?

I could actually see it being implemented in specific ways like this in the old world, but not over all, as others have said, it would require a complete remake of every zone.

I mean no reason it can’t work on a technical level, Evoker’s Soar is the same tech and we can use it in the old world.

Agreed. Need to let the dog out? Answer the door? Pop up in the sky real quick. Yeah, my rogue can stealth, but the rest of my toons just log out if not near somewhere relatively safe.

Someone whispered my little alt after I did the jerky Up-Up motion with, “How to spot an alt off their dragon 101” lol

What is the return on investment to modify all existing maps so that DR mounts won’t blow their constraints? For those few people that actively go to old maps? For a gliding system that some people can not use and others would rather walk away from the game rather than use?

I’ll believe it when I see it. If they only leave me DR then there is nothing for me here.

Except Dracthyr can already Dragonride around in the old world, so this argument doesn’t really hold any water.

Like garrisons, order halls, island expositions, and covenant halls, it will be left behind and forgotten as soon as the next expansion launches. The best we could hope for is that they allow the dragon flying mounts to fly regularly at that point

I doubt they will do it. Because they’d have to apply it to all mounts. They’d need some rigging work. They can barely get the heritage armor sets done. I’m expecting it to be this expac only.

Blizz did say around launch they want “to see how it goes”.

but we all know the empty promises they make.

Nothing is left behind as people think.
They just have their own aims for things.
All the subsystems that support those things still in the game, they just serve another purpose, mostly a more lucrative purpose.

What people like to skreetch but seem to not really grasp is the concept of player retention schema.

It is JUST LIKE Twitter, or Facebook. Elon Musk does and says a lot of dumb things, but he said something on twitter that is the epitome of everything public these days:
Wording is not actually a thing anymore.
When a online service says “things you may like”, it might mean “if you trash this content, you may like to trash this content also”.

That is basically the thing about modern player retention. If you dislike it, if you not having fun, but you are paying for it, and talking about it, IT IS THE SAME.

They only start caring, and not that much, when people start leaving and not paying. But if you get so many players like that other topic “I know ingame store is an issue, but if I cant solve it, I embrace it”, it is not a wonder why nothing ever gets better.

WoW wont get better because there are no people enough on the “bright side” to simply take a break and demand change FROM OUTSIDE. Demand change from inside is like you being a hostage and demanding better treatment otherwise you will “be uncooperative”.

I think the most elegant solution would be to eventually allow a conventional flight mode switch on dragon mounts that let them fly at old mount speeds.

They also need to enable dragon flight on old mounts, but I don’t see that happening until a future expansion since dragon mounts are a selling point for this expansion.

Dragon Riding is nothing more than a mini-game designed for the same people who can’t take two steps in-game without hitting the space bar, people who always have to be interacting with the game. It would be best if you folks remembered that Dragonflight was designed from the ground up to accommodate and force players into Dragon Riding. The earlier content wasn’t and I don’t think Blizzard’s current Showcase of Diversity is even remotely up to the challenge of a Cataclysm-sized rework that spans multiple expansions.
Dragon Riding is for Dragonflight. Any hope of even going forward with the feature would likely mean that every new expansion would feel like Dragonflight and since Cataclysm, Blizzard has developed the tradition of completely remaking the game with each new expansion. Bye bye, Dragon Riding.

So, you either haven’t learned all your glyphs, haven’t chosen talents, or don’t have 40 gathering skill points allocated.

Yes, this happens a lot in this game. People staying subbed for less than they had before due to inability to understand that they are getting less or that they have been duped. Over 20 years of Blizz custom, I have seen a lot.
