I’m talking about the Dracthyr racial ability, not dragonriding.
Which SHOULD be enabled everywhere.

I’m flying around Draenor atm, and man it’s so slow lol
That said old flying was the perfect AFK tool in game.
Hoping we can have both, and everywhere.
Game is too old now to gatekeep stuff like this, Blizz should be falling over themselves trying to keep the last few players logged in at this point.
ya dragon riding needs a hover option so we can afk or look for resource nodes. having to flap my wing to stay aloft while mining is not an enjoyable activity.
You can have Dragonriding in old world as long as it can coexist along side regular flying, and is released along side Dragonriding at the same time in future expansions.
I keep hitting my spacebar several times to get really high and nothing happens.
Itlll have to. Old mounts dont have vigor.
It is precisely BECAUSE of dragon riding that I have unsubscribed from the game. The visual idea is neat, the mount speed is too … BUT … why bother to have a deftness stat and hype about how useful it is, when you are left sitting at your last herb node waiting for vigor to build up just to get to the next node. It’s amazing how every time you think “Oh maybe they got it right this time”, you find they have done the exact same thing , just in a different way. You have already lost more time trying to gather than the deftness stat was supposed to have saved you. The time it take to gather has been significantly reduced because of this system, the inability to hover , or moving so fast that you miss the nodes and have to backtrack and waste vigor trying to find that node that you cant see because the wind sheer animations (white speed velocity lines) are obscuring your vision and frankly the speed to be able to regenerate vigor is just too fast for gathering efficiently. I would not mind this being rolled out in the entire game, if they left the ability to hover and removed the vigor garbage. Players want to get things done efficiently. Not to find that a design team have had a meeting on how they could slip actual progression nerfs under the hood, while hyping mount speed and pretty pixels. At the end of the day when you destabilize the core game experience for semantics and pixel crack, all in an attempt to see if you can extend sub times by sabotaging progression and efficiency in greed, I purposefully look to sabotage your revenue stream AKA unsubscribe. I am going back to FFXIV as it does not have this ridiculous “let’s all try and wring as much money out of the player as we can” mentality and so-called ‘work ethic’.
I don’t care what any of the pixel addicts say or the excuse makers, the dumb or anyone else sitting here defending this garbage, fanbois, whatever … think or say … you are meaningless when I pay with MY money.
Dear OP,
The amount of work and resource that it would require to do what you want will probably be why you’ll never actually see it. Blizzard can’t even fix the bugs they have in their game and create quality patch content.
Hey. You dislike dragonriding but im literally staying subbed and Dragonriding is one of the reasons I am staying subbed.
Count me in.
It was mentioned somewhere (I don’t remember specifically) that a few folks testing out soaring on their dracthyr discovered that some areas in the old world have lower skyboxes, which may present a problem for dragon riders unless the skyboxes get raised everywhere to equal the dragon isles.
I noticed the skybox thing a few years back when I was BASE jumping off of the Sword That Shall Not Be Mentioned in Silithus.
If you like to fly high it’s going to be an issue. But if you like to fly low enough that you have to look up to see treetops, it won’t be an issue.
After experiencing that joy that is Dragonriding, I hate old-style flight.
Flying to Shadowmoon Burial Ground on an old-style flying mount … it feels horrible. Feels like I’m swimming through molasses. Not fun. It really illustrates how much worse old flying is.
However, enabling dragonriding in old zones may require a bit of effort on Blizz’s part. The flight ceiling for legacy zones is often quite low. Enough so that evokers flying with Soar often hit invisible walls where the flight ceiling drops when transiting to a new zone. Ideally, Blizzard would fix this by raising the flight ceiling in every zone.
I wish Blizzard deleted old-style flying from the game and replaced it with Dragonriding in ALL flying zones. However:
Please don’t start that discussion again.
There’s no reason both systems can’t co-exist.
I really hope they bring it over. I love dragon riding
i definitely like how DF passengers are handled: no fumbling the rider between zones. if they can backward apply that to older WoW zones (dragon riding or not)
My feelings on the idea. It can go fall off the edge of the Cosmos.
Well, that would be one way to guarantee my unsubbing and stomping on the bits.
One, I hope not as it is the reason I quit playing WoW.
Two, I think it unlikely because it would enable you to do things like getting to edges of maps / out of bounds areas or travel between areas that are are the same logical map but unrelated to each other.
Lol, isn’t it going to be a shame when DR gets left behind on the release of 11.0. Maybe they should do another water based area where only water mounts work naw forget I ever said a word.
I just hope that flying mounts are enabled before then so I can get something out of this expansion, otherwise I will chromie-time around it. In any case, I will never touch DR again, even if it means I never play WoW.
Bet you love Ram Racing too.
I unsubbed because of it and will not be back to the game until I can play it without using DR. That’s the thing about people, we all don’t like the same things. I used to have a live and let live attitude but people like you want to take away my toys because I don’t like yours.
How, I hope DR never leaves the Dragon Isles and I hope you end up going back there to use it exactly as much as you are going back to SL to do Torghast now.
