Dragon riding, here's how I was able to learn after many frustrated attempts

For those of you who are still struggling with dragon riding I want to share with you what worked for me.

You see unfortunately dragon flying lacks a proper tutorial on how to learn how to glide around.

What worked for me was to keep my right mouse button pressed in order to guide the dragon to the rings during the flight, as simple as that.

I hope this little tip works for you fellow players.

How did I found out? Well I asked my son who is a 20 yr old boy what he did to make it work. Now I can finally enjoy my campaigns once again.

um thats what i usually do in general prior to dragon riding for regular flying.

hardest part about dragon riding is just getting stacks when trying to go up super high ontop of finding nodes. nodes that are up are not indicated they are up on a mountain. only way to kind of tell is seeing what node it actually is because they tend to grow on certain things or near certain things like the bubblepoppy you find near water sources

It took me a while to figure out that the only way to get any upward momentum is to hit Skyward Ascent back to back.

This is the way that most people play the game all the time. How do you normally move your camera?

…Huh. I never really thought about it but it makes so much sense, maybe all the people having difficulty with Dragonriding are keyboard turners…

Well, they have to learn at some point, for their own good

But… how do keyboard turners do things like swimming up or down, or even just looking up or down.

I’m trying to wrap my head around the idea of actually playing the game fully without even knowing about mouse-turning.

You can dive and surface with X and space respectively

As for looking up and down…I don’t know I guess they don’t? Or they use page up/page down or whatever the default key for that is, but I refuse to believe anyone actually plays this game using keyboard controls for their camera…

Keyboard, everything is keybinded, unfortunately there are things in game that need mouse for a better playstyle

things like swimming and flying just require a right click button and you go, that’s why I had issued with dragon flying, it is a complete different playstyle than the one I’m used to

If you’re ever running from A to B casually, you can do so with one hand while having a snack or drink with the other. You can just hold down both mouse buttons and that will make you run forward, and then steer with mouse camera movement like you are now with dragon riding. Just as an fyi. I do that a lot while eating, I guess that’s why dragon steering feels perfectly natural to me.

I use my mouse to move, always. Spells are on the left side of the keyboard and I use both together.

Really made pvp’ing much better. Everything much better.

The problem I’ll have with dragonriding will be hitting trees, missing the rings, not seeing them in time, etc…

ok so I’m super new to WOW and gaming in general. this is actually the first video game I’ve played on my PC since Myst first came out. thank you for posting this! I’ve been stuck for so long! I find there’s a lot of aspects of this game that are intuitive for people who game in general. but for newbs like me, it can be pretty confusing.
