Dragon mount?

Ok, I know it cant be just me wanting this. Ive played since vanilla and always liked collecting the tier sets and mounts. (Just got the horseman’s reins after over a decade so WOOT). Ever since WOTLK and the quest in dragonblight where we get to ride a full grown dragon on the Galakrond quest ive been hoping WoW would give us a grown dragon mount. Maybe it would be less of a “pet” and more of a friendship. Random conversations etc like some of the artifact weapons (how aluneth whispers stuff to you). Wouldnt it be great to ride a big dragon instead of the teenage whelps (drakes) we get now?

Not my style. However, I don’t like super-large mounts.

The teenagers don’t fit through doors as it is. Could you imagine trying to get a full sized dragon around Stormwind?

Plenty of them in the game as it is, with more coming in Dragonflight.

It’s true, I’m also not a fan of huge mounts. Maybe an odd reason but it’s the main “why” i don’t play Tauren.

I probably would have a backup for in towns or cities, or maybe the dragon wouldn’t be usable in cities because they wouldn’t want to come to a popular area in dragon form. Which would be an interesting side effect of having a fully sentient mount. Perhaps they could join you in humanoid form and have a discussion but not go dragon mount til you left the area?

We ride drakes of all varieties. Not the full grown raid boss-sized wyrms, though.

The Dragon Riding mounts in Dragonflight are interesting. They are drake sized but you can customize them. I don’t think they talk though.

Not what I said. This is a “grown dragon mount” and cleary not a drake:

That is not a “grown” dragon, regardless of what you arbitrate as “clear.”

Yes it is, “regardless of what you arbitrate as ‘grown’”.

Please explain how the Life-Binder’s Handmaiden mount is a drake instead of a dragon.

Literally size. Size denotes age.

Adult dragons are known as “wyrms” and are, well, large.

Drakes are essentially the teenager phase and they’re smaller. They’re the ones we ride.

All wyrms are dragons. All drakes are dragons. But not all dragons are drakes or wyrms.

Just going to clarify your misconception.

This is a drake:

And this is a dragon:

Notice the easily definable differences between the two. This has been my TED Talk, and thank you.

You posted the same skeleton in a different animation. They’re the same size. Both drakes. Both dragons, for that matter. But not the fully grown dragons (ie. wyrms) to which the OP was referring.

You could show a little grace and just admit that you’re wrong. It’s okay. We’re all lifelong leaners, or should, at the very least, aspire to be.

I am aware of the handmaiden. I have the mount. While i could see the argument that this is a dragon, i would say she’s either a very young one or a miniature/dwarf/runt etc.

When i think dragon mount, i was talking about having the size. Like the Galakrond quest, or riding Alextraza. (Not actually Alex, but similar in size, decoration, etc).

Fair enough, but there are many mounts smaller than NPC dragons already in the game that cannot fit through most openings.

Still, there are many dragons for you to choose.

In game, both are very similar in size. The handmaiden may be a dragon, but if she is, shes tiny.

Not in the slightest.

True story. I have most of them (drakes) that can be found without forever losing to RNG drop rates.

Just started this thread to see if maybe inwas the only one that wanted to partner up with a full grown dragon (wyrm, w/e) and ride big enough to cast a shadow.

Unrelated but think the Targaryens.
