Dragon lore

With the new expansion being dragons and that being the huge gap of my WoW lore knowledge, I decided to read dawn of the aspects to fill in some of the gaps.

After watching 2 or 3 get hype for dragonflight YouTube videos they all had the same question in regards to Galakrond, that being will we find out what corrupted him since it wasn’t the old gods.

Spoilers for a mist of Pandaria old book

So after finishing it i can tell you that You’re told 3 separate times of what happened to Galakrond. What caused his corruption and his growth was going cannibal on other dragons. Even back when dragons were more or less cave man smart they had 1 taboo thing to them and that was eating other dragons. Sure they’d kill each other and get a little blood in their mouths but they’d never ever eat each other, it was so taboo they couldn’t even believe it at first when they found out even with the proof.

The guess for why he ate the first one was since he was already the biggest of the proto dragons but no where near the gargantuan size he’d become later is he got desperate hungry and ate one of his one brothers or sisters to sustain himself.

Every time he eats another dragon even when he gets super big later on he coughs and hacks up small bits to full on undead corpses later on. The proof that cannibalism alone is the cause for his super growth is about half way through the story a few dragons decide to become zealot followers of Galakrond in hopes of surviving. After eating a dragon one of them starts getting sick later on.
The best proof of this how ever is at the end of the story when the 4 former aspects are talking to each other about what happened and the story of how Galakrond got the title of father of Dragons. When the first dragons came along after the first the 5 aspects became aspects, they saw Galakrond’s corpse and couldn’t figure out how he could be anything other than a true and first of real dragons and not a proto dragons. The aspects let everyone belive this so no one would attempt to become a new Galakrond.

My only question from the end of the book was, was Deathwing hearing the whispers from Nzoth even before he was an aspect? When the watchers were about to bestow everyone with their power they all had to agree first and everyone more less did immediately. However they noticed Deathwing wasn’t paying attention and was looking to the south like he could hear something no one else could to the point they had to get his attention

The tldr is we know what caused the transformation Galakrond and its a bit Underwhelming but kinda cool too.

A

Deathwing only started hearing them after his ascension. His connection to the planet pretty much made him the most vulnerable creature on Azeroth to corruption.

I knew he heard them after being the earth aspect litteraly screwed him over. I just didn’t know if the book was hinting that right before his ascension was the “first” time with the whole looking in nzoths direction and hearing something no one else can

Yogg-Saron was north and took credit for corrupting Deathwing to create the Dragon Soul while N’Zoth was south and took credit for making him cause the Cataclysm.

In any case none of the Old Gods seem responsible what distracted Neltharion…and yet there is rumor of an entity that could be responsible: The Murlocs fighting Azshara using Death Magic utilize Orbs of the Drowned. Did not the Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron mention the Drowned God?

Furthermore N’Zoth mentions the fall of Night with Barrowknoll Cemetery Whispers(aligned with the Drust) mentioning that "Night falls. Her song will end." as well as "Her whispers echoes loudest of all." and "Embrace your fate. All will drown." with Oracle Saezurah in Zereth Mortis even mentioning "Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Quiet now, but her voice will awaken the others."

Elune incidentally is tied to the Tides. Elune is whispering from the depths. The Emerald Dream is not Azeroth’s Dream but Elune’s Dream which is why it mirrors her sister the Winter Queen’s Realm…

Elune and the Master of the Drust lay dreaming within the Sunken City and Elune in particular is whispering.

As N’Zoth has stated “She is not the last, but the first. Drown her and you will see.”

The Pantheon of Life I.E. the First Ones will awaken soon and all will drown in the First Ones’ Darkness…

The Eternal Ones are Souls implanted within 3D Printed Robots and the Winter Queen is the Soul of a First One. As for what Zovaal’s Soul is: Probably an amalgam of Devourers considering they are able to use Zovaal’s Chains of Domination as an entry point into Zereth Mortis.

9 White Ravens the color of Aviana(one of Elune’s Ravens and apparently the ancestor of Rukhmar and the Dragons according to herself) have taken flight during the Antorus Ending Cinematic.

As Il’gynoth stated each of Elune’s 9 Ravens seek a prize to gain Elune’s favor… What prize are each getting?..

And just so everyone is clear, we were on vacation during the Second War.

Nope OG orcs always up to no good. You were enslaving the poor red queen and her babies. Good thing too though or we wouldn’t know normal mortals can use the dragon soul
