Dragon Kite TCG card have dropped value by more than half since twitch drop

Via eBay/wowtcgloots website

Now that people are getting TCG loot, do you think this is a good choice?

Should blizzard do it for other things like dark portal hearthstone, flag of ownership, foam sword rack?

A digital item’s perceived value was entirely tied to the scarcity of a limited, physical object. Who’d’ve thunk?

If you think the Dragon Kite dropped a lot, get a load of Feldrake’s drop

TCG scalpers deserve losing on their “investment”.

Those are on the BMAH already.

Sure why not? Looks fun.

I am for it. Blizzard ultimately owns these things… Resellers don’t matter to me one iota.

The legitimate business that would have been hurt by this is long past being hurt… The cards no longer exist to be sold retail.

I will say it again… Resellers don’t matter

Good.

Hope they do this will all the TCG items. Secondary market is shady af

I spent like an hour earlier running around my Drac’thyr with a little dragon kite.

So yeah I’m pretty cool with it.

How does a person buying a TCG mount from the AH to flip, or buying a pack of TCG cards in real life = scalping? I think people are being a little bit ridiculous when it comes to their attacks on people who already own TCG’s.

Of course, it is a good idea.

I think it is. I bought a dragon kite less than a year or ago or maybe around a year? Almost 500k but oh well, it’s so cute and an older item and I’m glad ppl are happy about their goodies.

I just wish they did this w/o involving streamers. I deleted twitch recently. I think some social media is harmful and it’s better to be off.

as I’ve been on the forums most of the day bc I’m almost dead from little sleep

I mean at this point if a code hasn’t been used then someone has been sitting on it for at least a decade just to drive prices up with scarcity.

So scalping isn’t entirely inaccurate.

Seems to be just like RL investments, huh

By definition you have to buy in large quantities to be a scalper.
I’m quite certain people did however it’s the seller that would be the scalper, not the buyer

It’s not even in the same ballpark tbh.

A) Why is it acceptable for RMT in-game tigers to be sold on ebay for 4k+? (Not the card, the actual in-game reins item)

B) Why is it acceptable for anything that can be tied to an in-game item to be priced in the thousands to begin with?

There was someone in another thread a few days ago arguing that nobody spent thousands on the card for the in-game mount, because “that’s not how collectors work.” Meanwhile, we’ve seen the value of Feldrake drop fron $3k to $250. Yeah, sure the value is all about the card only, right?

It is if you can prove that they bought them just to resell them before they sold out.

A simple flipper isn’t necessarily a scalper

But a scalper is always a flipper

The Twitch drop, curiously enough, can’t be caged. In the short term the price of the TCG will dump but mid-long term it’ll likely recover and might even be a reasonable investment at present.

Oh no…anyways.

Personally I despise when things can’t be earned in game, I’ve gotten a few store mounts almost exclusively as either gifts or apart of 6mo subs but otherwise avoided the store. The TCG rewards created artificial scarcity for a good you could neither earn in game nor buy on the store but had to pay sometimes thousands for at the time ONE mount/toy. That’s BS so yeah I’m glad they’re doing this release via twitch.
