My father in law who is 80+ and has enjoyed the game since WoTLK canceled today for the first time. He has arthritis and a missing the tip of a finger which makes using the second mouse button very difficult. Due to the way the dragon flying mechanics work he can not do anything with it. I’m sure plenty have done as he has and more will since its hard to fly this way with physical limitations. Bring normal flying back and keep it at normal speeds. Something has to be done to help those that cant use the new system when there is a system that works for them already.

the people who can’t use the system need to adapt. Period. he can rebind his keys to different areas to help himself play better. no excuse.

I’ve heard many people recommend getting a controller to help with dragon flying for people with arthritis and hand issues.
Other than that aside from adapting as best as possible I doubt normal flying will be added anytime soon. Dragon flying is the “feature” for this expansion

You get normal flying at pathfinder like the last 4 expansions.

He is 81 years old plus area’s can be reached by ground mounts changing key bindings isnt going to work for someone that doesnt have great reaction time and has to mouse click everything. Cant wait until you have arthritis and cant move finger well enough to do anything.

I do have arthritis and my reaction time is a lot slower than people half my age, so I empathize with your father-in-law. I am having fun with dragonriding to the extent I can do it. I still haven’t figured out how to remap the up and forward keys. For me the hardest part, particularly when flying through the rings, is having the reaction time to see where I need to go and move the mouse there without spazzing out and overshooting or flying in the wrong direction. I’m getting a little better every day. For your pops, my advice would be to try to do a little better every day and don’t expect perfection all at once. Logitech G13 is the gold standard IMHO, and the one I use. They have been discontinued, but there are others out there.
Your such a horribly close minded person, you know that? Old age problem does not let you simply “adapt”. We will all become that age one day if we live long enough then you’ll remember this moment in time and regret your horrible post after knowing what its like to be him.

For getting to spots that can’t be reached by ground mounts, my advice would be to park them in your passenger seat and collect all the glyphs for them. With 6 vigor and faster recharging, they should be able to just hop up to most areas, if need be.

Thanks for those words. He has spent everyday until today trying with no or very little improvement. We have played with the mouse DPI and what key rebinds he can do but like you said up and forward are hard to remap.

How many months did you have to wait, tho?
Maybe spend some time focusing on getting to the glyphs. There are some easier ones out in the open. Maybe you can help him reach some of them so he gets the vigor recharge. That helps a lot so you don’t poop out right away and can correct your mistakes.
Too long. Should had been given to us after doing all shadowland quests honestly, same way FFXIV does their flying. As part of it thought, they did it as well because they were bleeding subs and desperate to retain some players.

Go talk to a Dragonflight Trainer (like the one in the main city) and select “helping my fellow adventurers”, then this option shows up.
If you can’t find her, ask one of the city guards for directions to the Rostrum of Transformation. She’s right near there.
