I see that the minimum processor Dragon flight is 6 Cores, 8th gen intel. Im currently running i7 7700k with a RTX 2070. Shadowlands runs pretty well with it mostly dipping in raids. My question is will my CPU be ok for dragon flight?
Yes, you’ll be good for the most part. Your cpu is more or less in the ball park of a 6 core cpu thanks to hyper threading.
I just recommend not going ham and running a ton of things in the background.
awesome, thank you for your input. definitely puts my mind to ease a bit
This would be completely dependent on what motherboard you have but Id just get a cheap 9900k. Its still a great gaming cpu and is the same socket type if you’re particular motherboard supports it
Unless intel did something out of the ordinary. Z170/z270 do not support the 9900k natively
They were both LGA1151?
You are right though and this would really depend on what motherboard he has. For the most part he should be fine though I was just trying to be helpful
i currently have the msi Z270 Gaming M5 and from my research the CPU i have is the cap. Might be time for a new build if true. Thank for all your assistance. very helpful
An i7 7700k is fine. The minimum recommended is from 2014. Your CPU came out in 2017 and was the top of the line gaming chip for WoW then.
Would a shiny new CPU be better? Sure, but I wouldn’t expect to be blown away. Intel’s architectural changes over the years haven’t made as substantial a difference in WoW as you’d hope for.
If you would be pushing for a very high max framerate in raids then yes, newer CPUs would show noticeable progress. Outside of that any modern CPU, even if “old” will manage.
