I’ll say first off, I really enjoyed getting to and through Dragon Flight with my main character. I was off for awhile and started again with my main at level 50. The quest starting in Boralus through Kul Tiras were tightly knit and fun. It was fun to gear up with the quests. At 60 I went to the Dragon Isles, Wingrest Embassy. Again from there, the quests are very tightly knit with one leading to another. Getting the dragon riding glyphs was fun - a game in its own. Getting the Pathfinder achievement was fun. I couldn’t wait to take the same journey on an alt, but that wound up tedious and frustrating.
My alt started at level 30. Still, it was easy to level up and gear up in Kul Tiras. The quest are closely knit and it was fun to pick up nuances I missed going through on my main. I had to do more campaigns, of course, to get to 60. But, it went smoothly.
Dragon Isles were a tedious disaster for my alt. It was a disjointed mess. It started off ok at the map where you pick the area you want to start questing. I figured it would work like the map in Boralus. I chose Waking Shores. The fist few quests I recognized, but then it started skipping quests. I remember a lot more quests on my main in the Waking Shores, but they weren’t there. I followed the quest line and at one point it just ended in Valdrakken. I remember so many quests I did on my main but I could not get them. I was getting a lot of exclamation markers that were white -unavailable to me.
I started flying around looking for yellow exclamation points and in a tedious disjointed way I got to lvl 70 with a gear level of about 282 compared to over 400 on my main when he did Dragon Isles. At level 70, all the quests I remember from my main, opened up Embers of Neltharion, Call of the Dream etc. This is really very bad design or some type of bug. Why make one of the better expansions so tedious for alts? I have to believe its a bug.
You chose to skip the campaign and are surprised that you skipped the campaign?
I didn’t skip the campaign. It had one leg and it ended. The only way to continue that leg was through the Dungeon at Tyrhold. That was it. No other way- No Embers of Netharion, no Emerald Dream. Then all the quests I remember from my main opened up at level 70. That makes NO SENSE. But if it makes you feel good - dis me.
Because you don’t get to choose where you start questing for Dragon Isles.
It’s a predetermined order.
So at some point, you skipped the campaign.
On an alt you absolutely choose where you start. There’s a a battle map, just like in Boralus and you chose where you want to start. I chose Waking Shores. I could have chose Azure Span or Thaldraszus. The Waking Shores line dead ended with a dungeon, I went back to the battle map, but the NPC had a white exclamation mark. I couldn’t chose another campaign like you can in Boralus.
That only happens if you turned on the skip campaign option somewhere.
Um that didn’t happen. I wouldn’t know how to do that. And if its some you can accidentally do, the NPC should certainly tell you WHY it is unavailable.
You passed a prompt (if there even was one.)
And that was it.
You agreed (if you even had to) and stuff was skipped.
That did not happen. You have places where you can skip introductory quests. I didn’t skip them But even if someone did skip them, it would not shut down big quest lines like The Emerald Dream or Embers of Netharion. That’s a big portion of the game. Something happened. Its a bug and it makes me wary of bringing another alt to the Dragon Isle. After hitting 70 and the quests opened, it took maybe 5 hours to get all the level 454 explorer gear. But getting to level 70 was tedious and boring. The Dragon Isles should not be boring on one’s second trip.
Emerald Dream and Embers of Neltharion are questlines at 70.
And you should be able to check how to start them.
