While I understand your position, to me heritage armor is supposed to be the most formal expression of the races culture. It’s not intended to be common everyday attire.
Of course the set we’re seeing here doesn’t meet either of our preferences.

I know it’s meant to be a callback to the TBC concept art, but I think it could be an indicator of the direction they want to take Draenei in after the questline and might end up being a more accurate reflection of how their culture evolves with new lore rather than what it traditionally is right now.
Of course, I could be totally off about that, and as it stands, you’re right. Draenei may have a lot more going on in the background, but Vindicators are by far the most overrepresented and least neglected aspect of their culture, so I would have understood completely if Blizzard went that direction (even if I’m personally glad they didn’t).
I’m 90% sure we’ll get to learn more about the Man’ari and that Broken will play a huge role, at least.

K, I saw this last night, and nearly threw a fit. I am now calm and can post my thoughts in a clear and coherent manner.
This is elekk crap.
I don’t mean to insult the artists who worked on it, a lot of effort clearly went into the colors, textures, etc. But Blizzard has STILL not learned that you cannot put these goofy half-coat/flared longskirt things on female Draenei and have it look good in any capacity. It screws up their curves and borks their silhouette.
This is clearly NOT anything like the OG concept art from back in the day. That art had the torso/leg wrappings and the sleeveless longcoat looking getup. Almost like a tribal religious figure. And if they had made THAT set, nearly identical to the art, this would’ve been a home run, best heritage set in the game.
But this set makes them look like hobos. Other than the shoulders and gloves, maybe the boots, I have no idea how I’m going to make this set work in any kind of legit transmog.
Overwatch PvE cancellation was the biggest gaming disappointment I have ever experienced in my life. But this is a close second.

Hate it, totally.
I started this character as Draenei in 2008 but was human for MoP and again for BFA to the present. I plan to race change back to Draenei so I can do this quest, but yeesh those sets are ugly.
Second thoughts and advance buyer’s remorse are consuming my happiness right now.

Helmets that entirely cover and erase any of the details of our faces, tentacles, horns, crests, and hair? The defining features of being a Draenei are gone. It’s ALL GONE.

I imagined something a draenei would wear to Karabor. To visit Auchindoun. Instead, this looks like what I’m going to don for a trip to Underbelly to collect currency for buying a rat mount. Not exactly what I’d expect a draenei to wear while honoring their ancestors or worshiping at the temples of light.

They really missed the mark with this set. The belt and the colored cloth are about the only things that call back to the original concept art.
The rest looks like it’s from Star Wars.
And what even is that helmet? It looks like a quest green

The helmet just doesn’t fit. A hood or circlet are really the only good ways to match a helm with this set.
The shoulders are hideous. They look like chunks of a nearby building that are just stuck to the shoulders of the character on top of the short sleeves. They do not fit at all.
The short sleeves look silly. I get they were trying to mimic the original concept art but it just doesn’t work with these character models.
The color pallets make everything worse. The whole set just doesn’t seem to match due to the odd color combinations and texture layers.

I was definitely hoping for something more Artificer/Arcane inspired that was reflective of the original culture of the Draenei before they were forced to flee Argus.
Artificers have always been my favorite part of Draenei culture and it’s a part of Draenei culture that any class can partake in since we’ve seen Draenei artificers that are paladins, warriors, and mages.
Something inspired by the Vindicaar, before it got all gross and Light encrusted.

Thats one other issue I have as well. The helmet shouldve been designed with a draenei’s face plate & horns in mind.

For me, the helm and shoulders are probably the only part I don’t like. The rest is decent and reminds me of the old concept art for Draenei back in TBC.

It does look quite busy… I like that they’ve gone back to the original concept art, but it just looks messy. It needs to be simplified in my opinion.

I’d like the helm to be a permanent Gift of the Naaru rune floating above the head.

This would have worked so well, would have been so simple for the designers, and was literally in the original concept art. Instead we have a helm that clips our horns (did they not know Draenei have horns?) and removes our hair.
Honestly, I think they were trying to make us look as unattractive as they possibly could. Just look at the concept art for the female - they ignored it completely and instead just copy pasted the male set. Can’t have attractive characters in this game you know, someone will demand they be turned into a bowl of fruit.

This set is truly rubbish, and I mean that as harshly as possible.
