Dracthyr Transmog: We need more slots than shoulders, belt (buckles), and tabards

I can understand that. We can only hope more options come down the line.

Definitely! Most mail armor looks like plate or leather. Would like more chain and/or scale looking armor.

Welcome to the club…

Actually, I agree with you. Since many sets are developed specifically for the class, they could have added some effort to make it so it replaces the barber shop armor as you get it. At least for new armor going forward.

oh i would kill for some scale like armor

And again, Ion did imply that something more was coming with the addition of Evoker tier. Unfortunately, if they really are going to “do more” with it, we certainly didn’t see it in beta. Maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised in a few weeks, but I certainly won’t be holding my breath.

I don’t mind it in its current incarnation as long as we can also earn more unlocks for the barber shop. Having visage and seeing the armor is cool and I rock that most of the time. I think that was the idea as dragons tend to interact with the mortal races in visage forms.

BUUUUUT and a big one is that we will need more options in the barber shop. Each tier should have a new outfit at a minimum.

This is what Ion said:

When we make things like tier sets, we know that this armor is custom-made for the Evoker, and so we can do more things than we could do elsewhere.

The problem is, when we actually got access to tier on our beta Evokers… it was the same limitations as any other set. As far as we can tell, there are no plans to expand upon this further. The recent interview with Morgan Day actually had him saying that they’re happy as-is. Again, I don’t see how. They’re trying to pitch this limit as a positive, while outright stating that they can do more, but choose not to.

It’s tantamount to a playground taunt. “Nyah nyah!”

Honestly, I would settle for Evoker tier also showing the chest and pants. Maybe helmet, since as they say, it’s directly designed for Dracthyr. Everything else would be gravy. But I think you really need those pieces to put together a cohesive look.

They should make it so you can chose any race as your visage so the dragon form could just be something like the Druid forms.

More armor options should come for the dracthyr via game play like druids have the option to collect forms. Dracthyr should collect armor.

They cut corners in such weird places .

And again. this would be an easier pill to swallow if they just had a frank, honest, and transparent discussion about it. Trying to spin such a glaringly obvious shortcoming as some sort of benefit is far from endearing. They’re doing so much better in some ways recently, but in others? The more things change, the more they stay the same.

How often do changes result from these sorts of repeated asks? Genuine question. I agree that they should just make all the mail armor stretch over their goofy lizard bodies and let wings and horns clip through but i seriously doubt they’ll do it at this stage. They should honestly go back to square one and redesign the class to be the visage forms that turn into an actual dragon for combat a la HOTS or make them draconic demon hunters that only turn into the true form when they do certain attacks like DH and metamorphosis. There’s about a million ideas floating around and they’re about all more desirable than what we have.

Rarely, but it does happen. More frequently recently. But one does have to be vocal to be heard.

If they did that, I’d be fine with it. Or I would have been, rather.

But they chose to compromise and make a draconic humanoid… then not give it transmog on the pretense that they’re related to dragons. When they deliberately chose not to give us playable full dragons. But they still gave them armour. Just not customization post-creation.

I just don’t understand the logic here. It’s so contradictory.

i agree with this. Having generic armor apart of the character design instead of pieces we actually earn feels bad.

once i discovered this when i started playing it really dampened any enthusiasm for me to play this race/class.

I kinda don’t want to see a dracthyr in things like pants or robes… it would be weird
Or a shirt.

I kinda get why they did it this way… but it was half assed

Honestly, I think they just should add the armour the same way they did belts. No paint-on textures. Just 3D floaty bits.

What I don’t get is that Dracthyr are not that different than races we already have. Their legs are no different than Draenei, their feet are very much like Worgen, chest and arms are your basic humanoid shape, and their hands are again very Worgen like. With the exception of their head there’s no reason Blizzard couldn’t add full transmog for them. This makes think that they rushed Dracthyr out for the prepatch, well this and the plethora of bugs we’ve seen with them.

I’m willing to grant them a pass on helmets. But even so… Tauren exist. If they can finagle helmets onto that model for release, I think they can figure out how to do the same for a more-traditional posture in twenty years later.

Blizzard also doesn’t shy away from armor and weapons clipping, just look at Gnomes and Goblins and hell just about any race that isn’t human or orc. The more I think about it the more I’m let down by Blizz, they really dropped the ball on this one.

If players have issue with clipping and this a certain item looks bad on Dracthyr, why can’t the solution be the same as every other class? That solution being: pick something else or hide the slot.

Why are they forcibly hand-holding us? Empower us to make our own decisions. Grant us actual player agency.

Considering 99% of mail items look like garbage to begin with…not really much of a loss. Plus the armor slots Dracs do display by default look stupid. Like why spend so much time/effort in customizing your toon down to shades of markings just to wear armor?

Plus your visage can show off the full ensemble

Subjective.

Subjective. But I do agree that they can look awkward… without the rest of the armour.

In five years from now, am I going to care what scale colour I chose and have been staring at? Probably not. I am going to care about the visual progression of my character outside of that creation screen, though. And Dracthyr is woefully lacking.

I play as a dragon to play as a dragon. Not a Blood Elf.
