Never used to bother me but I was playing outside of visage longer than I normally do. Their run animation is dumb looking and needs attention… Its horrible. Why do their arms swing like that…
Same. Which is why I keep visage on as much as possible. The run animation is clumsy and very unappealing.
I try not to pay attention to it…
I do my best to just… jump and glide everywhere I go
I simply need to swing my arms far out in front of me. It helps balance out all the extra weight in the back with the wings and tail.
Ye it is pretty horrific. The arm swing in specific is just so, so, so trash because their elbows aren’t bent like they should be. Not sure if it was done to avoid clipping through the wings but it looks like they’re trying to run while wearing two full-arm casts.
I kinda like it, honestly. Mind you, I am one of the few Dracthyr players I see out in the wild that stays in Dracthyr form, so I have just come to terms with the fact that I’m the odd one.
Just very robotic and stiff.
The downside of playing on a RP server is that I’m usually in character at all times, and as such I use a shrink buff almost constantly because the run cycle is slower at normal size.
I will think I have a slow debuff for a moment before remembering to shrink myself again.
The upside is that the goofy run cycle works for my character, who’s a silly little weirdo with a tendency to eat anything given to them.
But my question is WHY DO THEY LIFT THEIR FEET SO HIGH?
they don’t?
The dracthyr run feels goofy to me not just because of the arms, but they look like they’re stepping over obstacles constantly. Maybe I’m just imagining things, but if you try to run like that IRL, you’re lifting your feet pretty high…
New to forums, sorry, not sure how replying works yet.
humans aren’t digitigrade. worgen actually lift their feet up higher, but their stride is more pronounced than drac’thyr. evokers look like they’re out for a lazy jog in their run animation. arms not fully bent, barely leaning forward, and the stride itself is just short.
This is actually why I prefer short races.
Drakthyr should of been wow first quadrupedal race. They don’t have gear to show off or clip, they should have been designed just like the dragons but slightly more ambidextrous.
Guild War 2s charr are a good example of what a mixed bipedal/quadrupedal race looks like.
If they were more like the Highland Drake (but smaller) that would’ve been a winner! Could’ve even been a 2-person mount.
