…or perhaps allow them to use their visage form in combat? The tail might be the harder animation to replace.

Disintegrate, Fire Breath and Deep Breath would look awfully odd in visage form…
I support separate mogs for dracthyr and visage forms tho.
I’m still thinking the animations will be hard to place on the visage forms. At least some animation from the demon hunters has made me suspect there are possible opportunities.
I have been looking at the visage form similar to the demon hunters as the visage form has unnecessary scales and spikes can work with wings and tail spouting on the body.
A metamorphosis form that have no customization other than looking similar to Illidan?
Majority of demon hunters in combat are in their regular form
All notable demon hunter NPCs aren’t even in their metamorphosis form (unless they’re the bat crazy ones who sided with the legion and became full demon)
The regular form that has them spouting wings, spikes, or shooting lasers from their face.

Let dracthyr have mogable helm in dracthry form.

Our “regular form” is that of a bipedal dragon. Anything else is just some illusion magic we literally just learned a month ago.
Full transmog for our base form (outside of back slot obviously) and make our two forms separate mog is the way.
With luck they’ll open up evoker to other races later on and y’all can play your elf/human evokers. Maybe at that point they’ll open up daemon hunter too so I can play a not elf.
There are a number of toys that keep form during combat, and deep breath and hover look weird 
I think it’s more of a transformation.
There are dragonkin that perish in combat against us in their visage forms as well as Wrathion commanded to break a dragon’s legs. Even Kalecgos was trapped in his visage against a dragon hunter.
edit: I even suspect this transformation might have some mystery to the Dracthyr’s creation.
It functions in much the same way was the Fae Glamour from mythology. Basically an illusion so real if tricks reality itself into thinking it’s real, hence why a 40 foot tall several ton dragon can walk through an inn door without breaking the entire building. We’re also brand new to this magic without thousands of years of practice like the dragons have.
And you may be right that it ties into a mystery, or it could just be an example of dragon flight magic to show they are so much more then just simple dragonkin like the others.
