Sarkareth was definitely powerful with the help of the void and was a raid boss for the sake of game mechanics, but would the other weyrn leaders (such as Azurathel & Cindrethresh) be able to defeat for example - Emberthal? I don’t remember if there was one mentioned in the starting zone as the “best at fighting”.
It’s unclear who would win if the Scalecommanders duked it out.
Mildly offtopic but man Sarkareth’s endgame cinematic was rather underwhelming …
I was hoping for something like “I see … We were created using … The souls of fallen … Dragonkind.” and foreshadow some huge plot-twist or something. lol
Then lead on to a chain quest or something, with some big ‘Whaaat’ moment such as:
“I investigated the Dracthyr that were imprisoned and saw that one was bound to a soulstone to take in the soul of the dragon who it belonged to should they had ever fallen … It seemed to had awoken before the rest of us. The remains of the plateau of where they once stood still has some of the title of the dragon on it, I can just make out one word … Spellweaver.”
Anyway on the subject of the thread, I’d say Emberthal would tank them for sure. At least, I’d certainly hope so. I was disappointed Blizz went with the stereotype making Azurathel go Alliance and Cindrethresh go Horde, just for once I’d love if Alliance got red and Horde got blue. Instead of always getting: “Oh we conveniently got the colour of our factions colours!? What aaaaare the odds!?”
Based on the various roles of the different weyrns, I would imagine each scalecommander is roughly equal in ‘power level’, but skilled in different aspects of battle. This way, they can use their various skill sets to make up an army that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Of the different weyrns, Sarkareth’s Sundered Flame (or Ebon Scales) were basically the most focused on being the heavy artillery of the army. Of all dracthyr, they were focused on maximizing damage across as many targets as possible. With this in mind, Sarkareth’s skills would be perfect for a target rich raid environment.
Coupled with the empowerment of the void, which would vastly increase his own resilience in the field, he would basically go from being a glass cannon to heavy tank (not the game role, but a literal tank) of a boss. Being hard to kill and great and wrecking some serious havoc.
This is opposed to the other weyrns and, by extension, their leaders, who focus on healing (Healing Wings), front line defence (Obsidian Warders), targeted destruction and infiltration (Dark Talons), and bolstering their allies (Adamant Vigil). I’d argue that these specializations are less effective as a raid boss who fights mostly solo, but that is not to say that the other scalecommanders are less powerful, just that they are possessed of different skills.
