There’s no other way to put this, there’s zero reason why Dracthyr should not be showing armor on them except shoulders and tabard, it’s not because of any technical limitations, come on now - it’s pure laziness.
Laziness or unwilling to commit proper funding to creating a new race. There’s no reason there should be any other limitation, it’s a humanoid body, even with the head, just look at Worgen, everything looks funny as heck on their head but THEY CAN STILL DO IT.
This race will never have any true staying power and just feels incomplete now. Transmog is a huge part of the game, and the main reason a LOT of people even play anymore.
And if you didn’t want to make transmog and you are limited for whatever reason, then why not give us actually cool dragons? Why go through the trouble of making this lanky freak of a dragon that looks like it could potentially wear armor, but then not give it armor, and still not give us an actual awesome looking dragon.
Come on.

It all comes down to development time. /thread
I just wish they were putting the extra effort into making another dwarf race

Or another gnome race, since they listen to all the feedback their beloved and cherished community gives.

Imagine a multi billion dollar company actually spending resources to deliver a good product. Crazy I know. SO many missed chances.

I mean, the Dracthyr not showing gear and weapons was a straight up selling point for me, but I would be all for them allowing people to show their gear too. So long as I can still hide everything I couldn’t care less what other people do.
All the armor in the world couldn’t hide how goofy Dracthyr look, so its kinda whatever.

Caz they dont show amour makes no reason we shouldnt get races we want that the dev had said no to caz “amour wont work with them”
Give us ogre, give us naga, give us vrykul, give us hozen, ect
99.9%. Obviously. Then theirs those weird naked mogs or people playing drakthyr because fun. But he’s right. I play for style. Mainly fun game raids and keys…mogs half the fun.
But FASHION! xD

Most people fail to understand that as the game progresses, more and more 3D armor is added to it, and since you have to fit all that armor to the new Race, the amount of work needed to add a new Race to the game grows exponentially larger as the expansions flow.
It’s not about laziness. These types of decision aren’t made by the workers who do the work, but by their bosses. Bosses generally have no problem adding to their worker’s workload.
It’s about cost effectiveness. Blizzard did the math and realized that fully armored Dracthyr would cost more money to make than they would earn the company. So they decided against it.
Game dev is a business, not a charity. It’s supposed to make more money than it spends. Unfortunately.

this is all well and good but…how many people were turned away at the start of dragonflight that would have returned if you could see armor on dracthyr? 10,000? 50,000? is that not enough sub money to offset the cost?
the executives would have to know about this since they can smell money a mile away
Probably not, or they would have done it.
Executives love money. If it’s lucrative, they will do it, regardless of how much of a hard time they give the workers

If you’re so confident that this is the case, post the textures used on the dracthyr model.
New allied race confirmed.

It’s because armor would stretch and clip badly.
I don’t want all armor to show. As a matter of fact, I want none of it to show.
But if they eventually do show armor… they better separate lizard transmog from visage transmog. Because I am not about to be forced to go naked in visage just to not see armor in lizard form.
