The people have spoken. This is a request for Blizzard Devs to update/remake Dracthyr models. We want big, muscular, scary looking dragons and not the current models who, let’s face it, look very weak and flamboyant. Dragons are supposed to be scary and what’s with the fire? And the blue magic? The fire doesn’t look like fire. It looks very sparkly, almost fairish along with the blue magic.
Dragonid and or Azure Defender <— Good start.
Dragonspawn: Also cool! But doubt it.
They were originally Evoker-only, which I thought fit their skinny frames.
But yeah, Drakonids I think were what people really wanted.
Similar to how people wanted Wrath Mechagnomes instead of whatever we got in BfA.
Can’t please everyone, I know lots of people like what was made. Dracthyr easily have the most customization out of any race in the game (ironic, given their lizard form can’t wear armor).
And honestly, I loved the BfA mechagnomes, they had a neat story about trans-humanization and how it can be overdone.
Just a reminder though: Dracthyr have the option to be more muscular. It’s one of their customization options.
Most people seem to choose the petite body shape. Probably because the Dracthyr are the only Race in the game that is allowed to walk around fully nude.
The Dracthyr get the naked pass because they were denied a pair of very important, very precious character design concepts. If you take that away, they won’t have anything left!
Honestly, I will always be disappointed we couldn’t get the more muscular models the guards around Valdrakken utilize. Especially since they can be warriors and other such classes now. How I’d love to be one of those hulking beasts decked out in plate armor and a sword and shield.
Right in this board’s pinned threads is a request to not make petitions.
They’re not going to replace a race’s entire model and give it a completely different frame. They didn’t the million other times this thread has been made. The model already exists, the people who designed it made their bed and they’re laying in it. They wanted to make a real humanoid dragonkin race, which meant they had to compromise on its size, and you can’t put dainty wings on something like drakonid and expect it to be able to fly and not take up most of your screen.
I wonder which race has it the worst: dracthyr with the complaints that they’re not normal dragons or drakonid, void elves with the complaints that they’re not high elves, or Kul Tirans with the complaints that they don’t have a reskinned female undead model as a toggle.
Neltharion considered the draconid too slow and lumbering to be effective against the primalists, despite their strength. He considered three dragonspawn to be too frail despite their magical prowess.
Dracthyr are a combination of those with the versatility and agility of the mortal races. We were designed to be fast and sleek.
Dracthyr are a mashup of the other dragonflights. Their fire is that of the red dragons, which heals as well as burns. It’s not regular fire. They have blue magic from the blue dragonflight.
My only beef with how dracthyr look is their running animation. The way they swing their arms looks awful. Just bend your elbows a little! And of course the transmog situation. If they aren’t getting regular transmogs then their barbershop armor should be it, without the belt and shoulders ruining it.
