Dracthyr made me lose hope in new OG races

If something, the Incubus model was made as a test for Dracs, not even reused.

Naah, reused correct to say.

Explain are OG races. Draenei and blood elf, and then worgen and goblin leading into panda’s

Do you think looking at races like that, with their own starting zones and stories and models may have more work put in them then races with no zones that are a different skin color and some that armor doesn’t even work on them?

Yep, that’s why you should have quoted my entire text instead:

The devs represent overweight people by portraying them as a different race instead of simply offering them as customization options for normal humans. So, if they were really included for representation reasons… that backfired big time. xD

I was so excited to finally unlock Highmountain Tauren, only to see that females have just four faces. Four!! I don’t have a Nightborne but they’re pretty light on customization too if I recall.

They now have as many, if not more, options than Night Elves and Tauren. So no, by now, all Legion races, except for Void Elves, have received a lot of options… well, at least by WoW standards. Compared to most other games it’s of course rather lackluster.

I mean Dracthyrs are ugly as hell, so don’t lose hope just yet. Although… mechagnome

They would have to add a new race and class for that race kinda like how dracs already are, that is the easiest solution otherwise if they make a race and and it’s like idk an ogre warrior and it was using like warbringer armor how much would they need to edit in order to make the armor look decent on an ogre? How much would need to be sacrificed or salvaged? It’s a lot of ifs because you also have to cater an original set to an entirely new race that fits on other races or would they have to scrap a future armor set because it didn’t look good on a certain race? I’m not saying it’s not possible but I’d assume it’s more of a hassle than just making a new race and class exclusively for that race and armor sets exclusively for that race.

I mean, there’s the Heart of the Aspects which led to Cloud Serpents and the Fireplume pants which resulted in those “open kilts” similar to Jaina’s.

Heart of the Aspect does not share with the cloud serpents.

Very different animations.

And think undead warfront mail and KT Heritage was first with the playable leg length coats.

How would adding a new race, or races, 19 years later make them Original Game races?

My point isn’t that they’re exactly the same. Incubus and dracs aren’t similar either. It’s that Blizzard devs design an experimental model to test drive the idea before doing the actual thing.

Based on what I get, the test model gets sold on the shop.

I think these two look more like the Leather set from Castle Nathria and the mail one from Sanctum of Domination.

I thought the dracthyr was supposed to be a ripoff of the incubus model, now it’s a ripoff of the worgen model?

Also in any case idk why asset re-use is something that should really bother me if it isn’t obvious (which it can’t be if people can’t agree which model was ripped off to create the dracthyr); programmers re-use code all the time and it’s generally considered a good thing

They at least have the same sitting animation as the female Worgen and look quite similar to them. That’s why I personally think they are based on Worgen rather than the incubus. Honestly, I don’t even know how one would come up with the incubus idea. :dracthyr_shrug:

It’s either female worgen or DH meta. Though then DH Meta might have been based of female worgen as well.

Funny how it seems like one of their worst models are reused.

Good question, I consider that concept to be about making a new race as a fully functional and independent race on their own. Have their own starting zone, models, animation and a rep/tabard that you get a mount for reaching excited with them.

This is how all races were introduced in wow. They even put in effort for worgen to still wear helms and it looks funny but they put the work so no matter what they COULD wear them. Silly or not.

Now if something is hard they just skip it, like the armor for the dragons. Nothing about our new races is new anymore.

Some allied races have a lot of effort put into them, but you can see where they lack like the Kul humans have so little face, hair and beard options.

With the dragons human form being a female human and male blood elf, not being able to wear any armor they feel like furry art or a fanfiction wrong horribly wrong.

And then i remember it’s canon, and a billon dollar company made this for a game we pay 15$ a month too on top of xpacks.

Thats WILD to me.

I’ve played this game for years and have yet to come across a female ogre.

They exist. At least in the books, they have already been described.
I believe there was even a drawing of a female ogre in Traveler.

Mechagnome is somewhat alright if you can get the right mog. You need a tabard that runs past the belt. I find it helpful to use some pieces of their heritage armor since it helps to block out the eye sore spots (mainly the shoulders and belt). I at least find them more workable than Kul’Tiran

You are absolutely correct, Dracthyr should have their wings sit differently at rest.

They should wear them like a cloak, hooked in front of the throat like a Gargoyle.
