Dracthyr Engineer?

So was doing some questing and during it, got asked. What profession do you want to do? Admittingly I never gave it much thought, was probably going to do Mining/Herb for the racial but I did the little quiz they had and it suggested Engineer.

Sort of got to thinking, huh that’d be kind of neat. Suspended for 20,000 years. Completely out of time, sees technology and becomes interested in it’s workings. What do you guys think? Worth a go?

There’s a lot of stuff implied that would make sense for engineering in dracthyr. All those tall buildings in the dragon cities, the weapons and armour the dracthyr and dragons carry, and even the long-spoiled rations that were encountered in the dracthyr starting zone. All these things would imply a sizeable amount of engineering knowledge to master. What would be cool is if the dracthyr had their own racial spin on engineering like the gnomes and goblins of vanilla WoW.

I think the Dracthyr, Segallia, seems to be close to this concept involving robot chickens. Worth an adventure to explore if you’re tough enough.

I went Mining/Engineering because I really, really didn’t want to go double-gatherer and I wanted to get some benefit out of their Perception passive. Plus, going from Warlock to Evoker, I lost a battlerez and Engineering is one way to get that back.

In a lore-aspected reasoning, a lot of the Dragonflight Engineering uses Awakened Order, you know, stuff aligned with the Titans with Titan-Touched nodes being your #1 favorite to chase until you get a lot more of the mining tree unlocked. So, would imagine that a creation of an Aspect who was given that power by the Titans would probably have some know-how or interest in regards to Titan mechanics.

I don’t think technology in Azeroth works that way. Dracthyr themselves were created in some way. Probably in a process not totally unlike what Deathwing’s own son Nefarian was up to in his efforts to create the prismatic flight. Mad science and black magic.

Then there’s the titan’s own technology, which the dragon isles has more of than nearly anywhere else we’ve seen on Azeroth. Dracthyr may very well be accustomed to a higher level of technology than most races on Azeroth enjoy with the exception of the draenei and gnomes/mecha-gnomes.

Kind of attribute that to Alchemy myself.

Absolutely. That sounds like a neat roleplay hook. I’d go for it. :dracthyr_heart:

Ngl it’s probably suggested for different reasons.
But hey, dracthyr are interested in many things so go for it.

My hunter here rp wise makes some stuff engineering wise but can’t make jack when it comes too heavy tech stuff like a shredder or a gnomish shrink ray.
Just guns, grenades an a turret or two.

While Dragonkin don’t typically rely on high technology, the Blackwing Alchemy labs in Blackwing lair, show an interest in technological advances when needed.

For the Dracthyr, we’ve been imprisoned for quite some time and need to understand the world around us so that we may adapt and overcome.

All knowledge and all doors must be open to us.

That sounds like a pretty good reason to pick Engineering. I might be biased as I’ve been an engineer on this character since Vanilla. lol
