Idk I was on the defense train for Dracthyr only being Evokers since if they’ve been sheltered away their entire lives how could they be anything but specifically what they were created for? But they really aren’t doing a great job selling that concept

Don’t play a drachtyr then. Let the caster’s have their moment, every hero class we’ve gotten has been meleee we don’t need to turn every hero class into that.
Besides, show me where they used melee.

listen listen let me tell you something. I don’t care if my polearm and armor is useless, I wants it. I havent even bought Dragonflight yet because this is dumb.

I get the concept, and it sounds good on paper, but really it would take a LOT of work and explanation to give any lore reasons why they can’t at least be warriors and rogues. The other three “all-races” classes you can kind of hand-wave by saying they wouldn’t have been exposed to those skillsets, but it ain’t like the dracthyr never saw a blade before.
You may notice a lot of their spells* have slashing animations.
because blizzard in their wisdom has decided that dracthyr can’t be other classes yet. We only get to play the elite dracthyr evokers. We don’t get to play the common foot soldiers yet.
Hoping I will be able to make a dracthyr warrior before dragonflight ends.

The way I see it, there’s a significant difference between “being able to pick up a sword and swing it” and “actually being trained to properly handle a sword”, which in the case of Dracthyr would be the latter since they were specifically created and trained as Evokers
At least, that was my initial concept from the outside looking in. Now with the most recent trailer that’s out the window though, so it’s all irrelevant anyway lol

No. Most dracthyr are not trained to be evokers. Evokers are elite dracthyr. It seems not even the scalecommanders are evokers.
Just give it time. They said in an interview they’re open to the idea of expanding their class choices for dracthyr. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get that in a 10.x.5 at some point this xpack

Here is what will happen, next expac when this one turns out bad, they will add a new spec to DH and Evoker to get us back

We have enough garbage melee specs. Game needs more ranged.

^ because we honestly need less of these kinds of players.
Have you watched Chapter 3? The frontline melee style army setup stance? The polearms? The infantry lineup? Casters don’t stand that close together and wield pikes like that.
