Look, I know I’m reiterating the same things that have been said many times, but I’m going to say it again.
Why are we getting races with overly limited transmog options? I understand that rigging a new skeleton with armor sets, especially one that’s more awkward like Dracthyr is a massive undertaking in development time, but at the same time, let’s not pretend that they didn’t get the short end of the stick either.
A lesser point, Mechagnomes suffer from the exact same thing, and there’s even less of a reason for them because they use the gnome model with different options.
While Dracthyr have by far the most wide spanning and unique character models, they’re also one of the most limited because of transmog. I don’t always want my Dracthyr to be wearing the same racial armor in Dragon form at all times. It’s boring and it’s becoming an eyesore because the options we do have to match those color pallets are limited and mundane. Look at the newest tier sets, none of them match to the baked in armor, so even if you do utilize them, it’s very off-putting to people who take a lot of time in making a unique transmog set. It’s sad, really. I have the most fun putting together sets for my Dracthyr but it is so difficult to commit to it when 90% of the set isn’t reflected in your Dragon form. Then the few pieces that do show don’t even match the color pallets or armor styles that are provided to you.
That being said, Visages, when are we getting new ones? We still shouldn’t be limited by a Human female and Blood Elf male at this point. I don’t want to be limited by these options when we have many other cooler races that I’d rather have as my Visage form.
Blizzard, these sets you’ve been creating you have been really knocking it out of the park for the most part, and there are so many transmog sets that could be fun to create, so let your players show them off. As time has progressed, it’s been clear that transmog has become a staple part of this game, and rightfully so, and there’s been so much love and care put into the system and the appearances provided to us, that it’s truly a shame that we have multiple races that are completely hampered in what they can do with it. It’s frustrating to not want to play certain races (and classes) because we’ve been limited by something that most people don’t even want.
Now, I want to be clear, I love that Dracthyr have armor built into the dragon form customization, and I’m not advocating for it to go away. It should stick around, perhaps be expanded upon and made better, but it should also remain an option.
I think it’s fair to say that most people dislike the limitations on certain races. I think it’s also fair to say that introducing races to the game with that level of limitation is nothing short of frustrating to people who enjoy transmog to the extent that some of us, myself included, do, and it deters people from wanting to play those races and classes off of something purely cosmetic that shouldn’t be introduced in the first place.
I’ve been going back and forth if I want to play Evoker for Season 3, and I’d love to, but the lack of transmog is a massive turn off for me that I can’t get past.
