Female Night Elf Fury Warrior in my Alliance experience. Always and forever.
Tanks have a threat modifying aura, threat is almost entirely based on damage with some caveats (DH Throw Glaive, healing).
This should be a loading screen tip
While I do agree with the old standard, and I do AGREE with you: if you are doing it on purpose (pulling ahead), you deserved the death if you knowingly did it.
As a healer: I can tell the difference. As can the tank. And I know which one of you did it.
I let the on purpose guy die, THEN i pop my cool downs.
I’ll hex something if it’s an oopsy. An oopsy usually runs to the tank.
That’s a good thing.
Wait… doesn’t more damage = more aggro…?
So, tank has good damage, so probably has good aggro…You not dodging mechanics bro? You single targetting the wrong mob? You not bring mobs to the tank if you pull aggro?
Huh? Tanks are supposed to carry? Maybe that’s why my back hurts…
But ima be honest. This seems like a you problem and not a tank problem.
You got threat because one of two things has occurred:
-
You were a complete muppet and blew your loaded on a pack of mobs not giving the tank 1-2secs to establish threat.
-
Your tank isn’t building enough threat either being bad as a tank or their gear isnt the best.
This is classic with hybrid tanks and hybrid dps and tanks.
And by the by mages where never hybrids. They didnt tank (With the exception in Gruuls lair) you snap threat and you die
OMG do we play together because it’s like you’re living in my head!!! I have never understood the dsp who scream about getting argo and don’t do anything about it. Like tanks can magically get more taunt buttons or something. Devs were like “hey let’s make changes to threat so DPS have to pay attention to more than their DPS addon!”. And on top of that “Let’s nerf tanks in terms of damage done and survive and make everyone kite!”
I think it’s referring to people who sign up to tank, but then stay in DPS spec so they don’t have a threat multiplier. Then threat goes all over the place and bad stuff happens.
“Look at my leet DPS” is not an adequate excuse for the person who signed up to tank and isn’t actually tanking.
if hes toping the metters how hes losing aggro ?
boy, do they. i always say pretty much that as well. or “learn their role”. same thing, really.
recently, i was tryin out restoration druid a bit. had a mage that thought it was funny to keep exploding with damage right away, before the tank had established any sort of aggro. tirna scithe, mage goes ham on the annoying fairy and i just let it happen. was fun. they demanded a brez. did not give.
Just strive to optimize your character then, ask for help on your class discord. Don’t hate the player who’s doing better than you for being good at the game.
I love doing that hah. The best is not Rezzing when they die to easy stuff on last boss so they have to release and walk all the way back to get loot. As healers and tanks it is our job to put the dps in their place.
Honestly gung-ho dps annoy me.
If you blow your load on 1 mob in 3 seconds.
I don’t have taunt up. Glaive doesn’t have enough dps to generate threat, I’m waiting 2 seconds on immolation aura so I can really pop my threat on properly.
But nope people run in, pick something I don’t have targeted rip threat and there is nothing I can do to help you for 8 seconds potentially.
Like they’re looking for the furthest possible mob from you and unloading a Kamehameha on it
It’s always my favorite when all three dps pick three different mobs to blow their load on immediately, and none of them are the priority target I actually have targeted and have already used 3 gcds on.
what a miss an episode of benny hill medley? Never
Yeah, I think so, too, and figured that out right after posting my first comment.
It’s even better when I get called a bad tank because I literally just ask for 3 seconds before they go ham.
Thank goodness for Divine Toll just grabbing everything. It’s gonna be such a downgrade when they take it away after SL.
Threat generation is primary done thru causing damage, tanks get a bonus on this to ensure they can maintain it over high DPS classes. So if the tank is topping the “DPS” chart, I think the issue is other people not doing their jobs in avoiding simple mechanics.
