Why is this the case usually? For instance, just had a fight against the bird boss in ALgethar’s where the DPS didn’t bother using a defensive on the third screech, which meant they instantly died from 100-0. How could you dps players not notice the screeches doing 40 percent, and then the next one doing 80 percent, so obviously the third one is going to be atleast 100 percent without defensives.
Do DPS players just not get arithmetic patterns, don’t download boss mods,… what’s the deal really?
A short IQ test for DPS player mains every week before they get to join M plus dungeons should be in the War Within.
Because they 3 chested a +5 and the +5 didn’t require them to do anything more than not take major avoidable damage and hit the boss.
The idea that you need to press a defensive to survive damage you are intended to take is an utterly foregin phenomenon to 95% of the playerbase. People have been taught that defensives are for when things go wrong.
A lot of dps players are only good at doing damage and seems passable because of it. But then they have issues properly timing and using CDs and utilities and start to become a burden. Especially when it comes to not using defensives when needed so they end up dying to every boss with high unavoidable damage. And unfortunately I think a lot of dps either can’t or don’t care to take that next step in improving themselves.
While it’s easy to paint DPS players with a wide brush, this behaviour certainly isn’t limited to them.
The +8 Academy I attempted earlier this week, the healer did not know how to clear the bleed on the tree boss.
The “bleed” is a stacking poison debuff, and not every healer can remove it. A poison dispeller isn’t required for this fight, though. You need to CC/AoE down the lashers (plants), kill the little tree, and then move into the green circle to remove the poison debuff and heal up.
Surprisingly many dps players move OUT of that circle, presumably because it looks like the circle from the third BH boss.
Wrong, the bleed they are talking about is https:// www.wowhead. com/spell=396716/splinterbark
what you are talking about is https:// www.wowhead .com/spell=389033/lasher-toxin
People get mechanics mixed up all the time, like the totems around storm boss in Nokud pulse AoE damage but they think the only issue is interupting one of the mobs around the totems as well when BOTH are issues that need handled.
Then their complaint about the healer makes even less sense because no healer (nor anyone else) can remove that bleed from ALL group members. It wasn’t an issue of the healer not knowing how to remove that bleed.
Only healers, or classed, that can remove bleeds are paladins (bubble/HoP) and evokers (cauterizing flame)… Both/all 3 will work with this bleed. However, you are right that no one can remove it from all group members. The complaint might be the healer got the debuff but did not know how to get it removed so they did not die or take massive damage from it.
At least these are positive stories. Many times you’ll tell someone they can do something and they won’t do it or even acknowledge your advice. There’s no guarantee they even speak your language, which is one reason why Determination is essential for LFR.
i just throw out immediately relevant tidbits of advice if asked or feels appropriate, like “cant los these golems, but you can the next” in ulda if i see people try to los (which makes them painful for the healer). i dont go overboard though because it tilts. if they take my advice, great, if they dont, its whatever
I’ve educated my fair share of mages in WotLK and original Cataclysm on just how valuable Spellsteal is.
That’s one reason why it would pain me if the only way I can continue playing old school mage in the future is through era - no Spellsteal and no Ice Lance.
Those spells really brought the class to life for me.
