im not new to the game just been super casual lately got a lot of stuff going on irl and trying to get back into the game and hopefully back into doing content i used to do. For now however im just restarting from scratch a new server, new faction, etc…
I’ve decided on a druid because i like the lore of the class. Biggest issue however is deciding between dps role or healer role as a main spec. if i were to go healer then i’d likely just level up as a healer spec through everything that is just how i am and it’s slow af tbh at the end game when trying to solo stuff and not really geared. i’ve mained a druid but a LONG… time ago. i mean idc how much dmg they do and all that im just tryna play and have fun for now and focus on just completing content i want to do. I feel like i’d be happier going dps not as stressed out versus healing but Healing also does have it’s pro’s as well compared to dps.
Heals if you wanna queue a lot while leveling and at max level even for faster queues. But yeah if you wanna quest grind, it’s def not as good as dps. Though if you roll a class that can both heal/dps, and if the specs share a lot of the same gear (like resto and ele shaman) then you can kinda double dip and change specs whenever you feel like it.
If you plan on doing more solo stuff, questing etc then dps. Queue times for dungeons while leveling usually aren’t too bad for dps though.

I was planning to go druid but i have a hard time swapping between 2 specs if both are dps it’s easier for me but healer/dps or dps/tank it’s just harder for me to remember stuff like rotation and all that.
i might try it out though i mean if anything i can always just stick to healer and go dps for solo content but i’d probably just prefer dps over healer in the end. faster ques are better for my situation but at the same time more stressful to heal imo.
im still debating on what class to play though i narrowed it down to 3
If you have any group content aspirations past queue content, healing is your best bet. If you just want to be super casual, then probably DPS.

If its trully super casual olay, as you stated, it would likely be better that your choose so you end up getting to play around with a theme that you enjoy.
Classes are essentially the same, especially these days, with just different color nameplates and spell effects.
With that said, if you’ve never played a healer but have been around for a while, I would highly suggest that you try healing(or tanking) as this will make you a far better player in the long run.
i have mained a healer before just gets frustrating since i pug a lot of my content so i got to deal with that sort of bs. less stressful when i pug as dps but probably am gonna go druid and work around with dps/healer.
now i just gotta figure out which spec imma main
as a druid i’d go tank/dps , they use the same gear and some of the same spells - druid tank is easy to learn.
im thinking going dps and seeing if i can get into a guild and if they might need a healer then i swap to heals
My take on this is, if you are a casual why do you need to be a healer? It is an intensive role and requires more work and personal investment then being a decent dps. A lot of people say they are casuals but can do mythic 20s in their sleep…I don’t agree with them being a casual. But anyway. I say dps since you probably would be doing more solo content than group content. Speaking as a healer, it is kinda pointless when you are alone most of the time anyway.
i like to heal plus since i used to pug a lot when i did content it was just easier to get into content as a healer vs dps. it’s been a long time since i played at that level though plus rn idk if i will get back to that level or push higher content i mean skill wise i can just got a bunch of stuff going on irl that prevents me.
but yea i just decided to go dps and see how that goes. figured it was pointless for me to go healer end game unless i was more committed like you stated thus why i chose dps and if i ever do decide to do harder content thats when making the switch would better suit me.
if you wanted to really play casual, i would suggest going healer because you can literally log on whenever you want to and just get invited to a group immediately.
if you played a dps, there would always be a wait. so you would have to budget your play time to include waiting to be invited to groups as a dps.
Also, i have really not wanted to play a DPS role for awhile since doing TOP dps requires specific gear with specific stats and specific trinkets, etc. However, I have found that good healers can really “out-play” their gear. As long as you are decently geared with better than average ilvl and whatever mainstat trinkets, you can do really well in harder content (while a similarly geared dps would not be able to put out the numbers required to down the content).
also, if you want to level up as resto, you can choose moonkin affinity to help make it faster.
Tank anything but warrior
Well whatever makes you happy dude. I main heals and I am sorta casual lately and can do everything just fine. But I’m also super geared for world content and am starting to finally do mythics, so it works out. But if I only did world stuff, then I would probably go more shadow since most often I’m only healing myself unless groups are doing rares. I like to spam heals on any ally below 100% health to make myself feel useful

DPS for casual, by far. I would not consider “casual” healing even remotely a thing, especially with people who stand inside of $h1t.
