Dps meters warcraft logs etc should not be allowed

DPS meters are good all around. It’s lets hardcore raid leaders see who is pulling weight. Having one on yourself is good peace of mind, or having knowledge of needing to improve, or change spec.

DPS competition is good and makes members each try their hardest. No one likes seeing their 2 go to 3 go to 4. (Didn’t say 1 because tank doesn’t count, they got higher dps, no matter what unless aoe cap changed that.)

This is why I’d advocate for their removal. Former raid leader and form my own groups for M+ and the amount of people that tunnel the boss and dont do mechanics is insane. Way, way more than I thought it would be.

But outside that no. Keep the meters.

It’s funny this would be your reason to want DPS meters removed when DPS meters is what allows you to know when people tunnel the boss and don’t do mechanics.

Without them, you would be none the wiser about it.

If you want immersion then you can go roll on an rp server.

Oh no I get that totally but usually when I call someone out they link their meter going ā€œBut I’m doing the most DPS.ā€ and act like it makes them immune to criticism.

The troll priestess in Atal Dazar is the worst for it. People not getting in the blood pooks or not swapping to the add to keep said pools.

Not disagreeing with you, just tired of seeing people use a meter to justify ignoring mechanics.

I mean that’s a good time to link the same meters, except the ā€œDamage done to targetā€ or the ā€œDamage takenā€ part.

Never see it, because most people know that meters can slap them down if they did it wrong.

Meters ain’t the reason, thats just human nature son, plain and simple.

People were mega elitist in medieval times. If you were a peasant you got no respect. It’s honestly more immersive.

Taking the bait:

Even putting the competitive aspect aside, parses let me know if I’m playing my class correctly. They are a learning tool, especially for classes with a more complex rotation. By comparing me to other people playing my class on the same fight with the same gear level, they help strip out these factors and leave behind mostly skill.

I imagine the people of Azeroth engage in healthy competitive behaviour somehow.

Dont use it if it breaks your immersion. If people spam it in an rp thing/realm to specifically break immersion, cant you report them?

Why did we wipe. Jerseypally only has 2 interrupts as a warrior.

Jerseypally died. Oh look he is taking more damage than the tank

Why did this boss enrage. Looks like jerseypally is doing only auto attack and concencration damage.

That is why.

Oh look. This wipe wasn’t jerseypallies fault. Looks like he found his interrupt button

Thats a troll thread. It’s a troll thread right? Has to be a troll thread. Definitely a troll.

Troll.

Ralph, why you use alt

It just tells how lazy someone is who wants to get carried.

This is like saying if you test less, you’ll get less positives.

If you can’t measure how bad your DPS is, it isn’t bad!

I like how the stalwart defenders of dps meters are lfr/normal raiders. Yes I’m sure you need to practice your rotation 8 hours a day to down that lfr boss dude you keep at it.

DPS meters aren’t great but I haven’t heard any good alternatives either, I imagine combat system would need a major overhaul to bring anything new and there’s no way blizz would have the spine to do something like that.

Agreed. I have one that I don’t use very often. Usually when I want to try new combinations to help my play style. I’ve always hated meters getting posted after every boss fight. I would usually look at mine after a wipe so I can see what I missed.

I like Warcraft logs because I trust it to tell me how specs are actually doing.
