DPS here is a hint

You need to do a slow three count, before unloading so your tanks can build up aggro. This is not retail WoW. I see a lack of tanks in the game, due to how frustrating it is dealing with dumb dps.

That and the large majority are probably rolling with guilds/dedicated groups.

Back in the old days tanks would say something like " assist me now with X" and that was our cue to nuke

Honest question, as a warlock is it alright for me to DoT up enemies as soon as combat starts?

I would say use agony and corruption first. Nothing that does damage and adds a dot along with it. Once you do a 3 mississippi count then use things like immolate.

Sort of… it’s kind of a hard p give an exact answer. By the time you dot up the first enemy it’s at least 3 GCD which isn’t a lot of time for the tank to build up threat on the second and subsequent targets. Warlocks gain a ton of threat or none at all depending on level/RNG. If I’m running with guildies I’ll dot everything and just hellfire till they or I am dead. Then again I’m only lvl 32 so who cares.

how could you be frustrated at the dps for doing their job lol. Doesnt even matter if you have agro or not, melee dps can tank it anyways
we do groups with 3 warriors a healer and ??? and we all go DPS 2H and still defeat all dungeons

i had a rogue that kept running ahead and pulling stuff, had no idea where his body was and kept face pulling literally every single pack because he was only like level 31 in SM Lib, then got upset when i told him to chill out and stop acting like an idiot

he argued with me so i just kicked him like 5 pulls before Arcanist Doan. such is the tank power

I was once in a group with a lock who would only ever cast hellfire, even against a single target! He just followed the tank closely and spammed that hellfire the very instant the tank pulled something. Of course this would usually result in him instantly pulling aggro on trash packs and almost giving the healer a heart attack each pull. I still don’t know if I would call him better or worse than the shadow priest who refused to cast anything and only ever wanded.

What was the point of this story? idk. I guess the moral of today’s story is: If you’re a lock, don’t pull aggro by exclusively spamming hellfire throughout the dungeon or your healer will hate you.

As someone who has been tanking dungeons… no, you don’t.

Also, speaking out as a lowly DPS, keep focus on your tank and attack what he attacks (or at least what he attacks first), if your tank is not kind enough to mark the mobs. Try not to multi-dot or AoE without talking to your tank first. If a DPS pulls aggro, the tank might not be able to peel it off of you especially if the heal is also pulling aggro.

Heals > DPS.

My best run was a 2 tank dungeon. We didnt have to wait and no deaths. But thats not the normal group makeup.

Agree with OP 100%. Especially you hunters.

It’s arguably more frustrating to be a healer than a tank in this situation. But I’m not saying it isn’t frustrating for the tank.

I agree. I love it when the mobs are marked. We all have a clear understanding how this is going to play out when we engage in battle.

And, please, focus on the tank’s target. There are macros for it or you could just target the tank and then press F. This is not retail, no need to rush, take your time, there are things more importants than top the charts.

You can throw something like CoA or corruption on, than count to 3 before you start your unload… On bosses (raid anyway), watch Saunder counts… Never nuke before 3-4 stacks or your going to give your tank a stroke once you get gear

I am having the same issue. We almost wiped cuz a wannabe tankadin pulled the boss and extra trash needlessly and then complained why i didnt taunt.
You pull, you tank.

Retail scrubs will sort themselves out eventually

I love it when I say “let me pull” and I hear a gun shot and see pets charging past me.
