DPS Disc build

is there a build that makes Disc a DPS spec again? I hate healing but enjoyed the old Disc DPS thing

disc is a healing spec period

for soloing u can go right side if u want more dmg but …u are better of changing spec to shadow lol

again? disc was never a dps spec even back in vanilla.

Yea probably, crazy how the spec that does damage to get our main heals out does less damage than the spec that is supposed to be spam healing :skull:

not really if disc did the most dps while doing the as much healing as it dose. at least when holy dose damage it cant heal outside of renew and mastery ticks.

It had respectable DPS in bfa eternal palace with the right gear. I only ever did it in LFR and normal fun runs tho.

Too risky to dps that hard outside of trivial content.

thats cuz schism was able to effect the lazer beam from mechagon, as well as the meme beam from necklace. it was never our dps just a bug.

Ahh. Lightforged laser beam too , also nerfed.

Fun police: :rotating_light:

doing 60k+ on the opener cuz cyclotronic blast got 40% damage cuz schism.

Tbh it was memories like that which brought me back. I stuck around anyway. Those bought me back tho.

You’d be better going Holy.

I’m a Discipline main and I mostly do PvP, but lately I’ve had a lot of fun as Holy using a PoM build, also throwing in Renews and Power Word: Shields and DPSing while those are out and rolling.

It does insane healing and the damage is pretty good with Empyreal Blaze and Mindgames.

My dps has been in the toilet since they got rid of mindsear

I personally hate what they did to disc. The spec feels really weak unless you go the aegis of wrath route. When you go that route you just spam sheild the entire dungeon.

I thought devine aegis would be fun again but its hardly noticable in five mans.

Mind games damage is a distant fourth be me, well behind passive damage like reflective sheild. I never took purge the wicked before, i didnt like that play style, now i basically have to take it.

Having a lot of mana issues

Disc dps sucks

Wait really?

I disagree with almost all of this. LOL

Mana is better than it ever has been (though still not fantastic)

Damage barely took any hit for me - still doing about 7-8k. Would definitely do more as kyrian, but I just hate playing boon.

Aegis of Wrath seemed weak after prepatch changes so I haven’t been using it.

Reflective shield is pretty terrible damage right now without our DF tier set.

Purge the wicked isn’t really a playstyle - it’s just a strictly better dot than SW:P that can cleave off penance. You’re not blocked from taking Dstar/Halo with it, so I don’t know what changed here.

I was just hoping that the new trees would have a hybrid type dps build for disc.

Can i see some of your logs? 7-8k dps on recount is a lot lower typically on wowlogs. Unless youre referring to junkyard with the Zap buff. My dps dropped consiserably in dungeons like lower kara without having mindsear.

Ive tried several different spec routes and most of them seemed considerably weaker than the aegis route. When you go the aegis route its foolish not to take reflective sheild since its 35% of my healing done in dungeons. It ends up being my second place damage ability after purge.

Before patch i didnt go into purge the wicked i went the divine star route. I didnt prioritize shadow word pain spreading. I did it sometimes when i had the globals available but mindsear/divine star and boon took priority. Now i find myself spread purge every pull and pressing pws on the tank. Renew the group for reduced sheild cooldown and resheild the tank on cooldown.

Ive dabbled in going the more shadow route but it currently lacks the healing boost we need for high keys.

Overall i feel like the spec is good enough to get the job done, but its really boring to me now. I was debating staying disc or trying evoker and i think im def gonna go the evoker route now.

This was gambit. And again, I’m running necrolord.

That said, all healers lost some damage going into DF (except maybe holy - who are relatively even with their old damage numbers - just a slight loss due to Empyreal Blaze vs Boon of the Ascended).

I never log M+. If I have a log it’s because a rando in the group logged it.

You can watch yumytv’s prepatch vods though. He was doing about 8k overall as well, and his talent build doesn’t take Aegis (honestly you shouldn’t take Aegis, it’s a major damage loss and the return isn’t good). Harsh Discipline is a far better source of healing or damage. Expiation is much better for MB damage - though you might not like that playstyle since it requires dot maintenance - so I’d go harsh discipline. Not taking Twilight Equilibrium or Sins of the Many is a considerable damage loss too.

It sounds like you were playing Renew, which also is inefficient after prepatch changes - it’s no longer a button you should use outside raid unless you have to move. Mana cost is too high, and too similar to flash heal to even consider.

Right now flash heal is significantly better - Binding heal makes it grant you atonement and damage reduction (taking protective light) when used on an ally. PW:S and Flash heal should be applicators, with radiance otherwise. Also you should probably mostly ignore trying to take advantage of the healing portion of train of thought. The CDR isn’t good enough to try and prioritize it.

As far as PTW - yeah. You should be putting it out pre-pull and trying to spread the longest duration one with penance when you can. But other than that, it shouldn’t need much maintenance, and you can play like you used to just with more mind blast and holy nova.

Also - I’d consider Halo if having mana issues or feeling you need more time to heal. It’s tuned relatively closely to Dstar right now, but costs significantly less.
