When trying to decide between two weapons, how do I calculate DPS? I have a 2 hander, which says one thing, and then a pair of swords that has a main hand dps value, and an off-hand dps value. Do I add the main + off-hand values together to get total dps?
How do I calculate how much +hit I have? Crit?
As a warrior still leveling. Go with the 2h everytime unless your tanking an instance, then switch. Otherwise just see what it says the damage is. Dont worry too much about its other stats right now. Even a staff can be a huge improvment just do to its base damage alone.

No, your offhand dps is significantly reduced.
Sure, dual wield before 9% hit cap is super sub-optimal, but the one thing I WILL say in defense of dual wield leveling, is it’s hell of a lot more fun than just watching your swing timer.
Something’s always happening, you can even use HS without destroying your rage pool because your offhand keeps swinging even when your main is queued up for the HS.
Weapon dps is king…
DW is fine for warrior leveling i find it much smoother and far more rage gen making it much more interactive.
For equal level mobs hit chance is 76% vs 95% for DW but you attack much more often so misses are not as detrimental.
MH dps is 100% what is on the weapon for MH with OH or shield or 2Her. OH weapons do 50% base more with dual wield spec talent.
It CAN be done. But its harder. When i first started at the end of BC i leveled duel wield fury, i did it. But im finding 2h a bit more managable.
If you are doing par content Dual wielding and 2h is pretty much even…just whatever weapons you have that is better…
2h has the edge if you are fighting mobs higher level than you due to hit chance…
For BC it’s a little different (unless you started at level 1) because you already have your core toolkit.
The biggest problem with 2h leveling early is that you just have no buttons to press, and leveling is frankly, a bit boring watching your character swing on a monster once every 3-4 seconds.
DW is just more fast paced and interactive. Hell, I didn’t even go Fury, I just dual wield leveled Arms until I got my Whirlwind Axe which made waiting for that 3.8 speed swing totally worth when it crunched something.
I’m speaking of comparing dps values in the character sheet, not on the weapons themselves.
MH/2H is based on 100% weapon tooltip.
OH is 50% of weapon tooltip.
Char sheet will also include inceases from AP which you have from gear+str.
Also DW has a 19% miss penalty.
With equal level weapons 2h does more but with DW spec DW does more mathematically from white damage. Even with no hit gear.
Well I chose to dual wield and boy do I feel godly. Spamming abilities, chain pulling, and still end up with almost full health and a full rage bar (unless I use execute).
