in dungons and raids, to pump out the most damage, you need a crit/mastery/haste build. But if you do pvp at all, you certainly want to stack some versatility. it certainly lowers your damage in pve, but by how much? will you get called out for low damage because you are using full versatility gear?
if you’re doing everything else right, nobody will notice
I had thought that versiatillity was better for tanking?
Just play classes like monk and DH, then vers is your best stat always
yea it is. The more you have the more tankier you get
Vers is pretty high up there for balance.
Mastery
Haste/Vers
Crit.
So if you’re owl you’re fine with Vers.
tbh no1 can really give you a proper answer. Atleast not the exact number you’re looking. Have a good look at raidbots.com and just sim for yourself
Depends on class and spec.
Ele for example, you basically stack vers due to a huge portion of the damage being auto crit, and instant, heavily favoring flat damage increase of vers.
But what exists now, that’s what our stats were summarized, the other main stats that went along with Agi, Str and int, parry, expertise rating, arpen, spell arpen, block value, spirit, and elemental resistance.
It all boils down to a few lazy stats where you can no longer correctly assign your class, which corresponded to leaving with only one set and probably varying between one or more depending on your specs.
My rogue’s best PVE stat is vers.
You’re incorrectly assuming vers is a bad stat. It’s #1 for many specs.
Secondaries are also very close in power this expansion for most specs.
Depends on your class, for example monks love vers and crit for PVE and PVP, it’s bis!
Vers is a secondary stat, not a pvp stat.
Yes it is good in pvp, but like all secondary stats the value for DPS in a pve encounter depends on all your gear, talents and in some cases legendary choice.
Like others said, some classes stack it for pve right now.
We really need to do away with this pvp/pve mindset for stats.
Also the double squish really lowered the power of secondary stats.
Total opposite of the end of BFA, primary stats are worth way more than secondary in most cases.
It really depends on the class/spec. For some, the other stats scale better, for others you’ll want versatility.
Check the class guides on Wowhead.

If it’s a stat on my gear it’s fine as long as it’s higher ilvl or has my best stat with it.
Last time I simmed myself, the secondary stats were all insanely close. It was something like
Str -1.81
Hst - 0.95
crit - 0.87
Mast - 0.86
Vers - 0.85
This expansion seems to be about chasing ilvl instead of focusing stats for a lot of classes. Best thing to do is sim yourself and get your stat weights. Typically, verse will be bottom stat for PVE for DPS.
More examples of catering to the lowest common denominator
Vers is the best stat, great in pvp, great (and required) in high level m+, and the raid is so easy it doesn’t matter what secondaries you have as long as everybody in your guild isn’t asleep.
that’s it, I need to explain.
vers, haste, critic and mastery, plus your main stats depending on your class and spec, is what we are now our characters in summary.
It may have been more complex in previous expansions, but we defined our stats much better than if we needed in the game and that bosses if it was the most specific we need.
Now that is less seen in a raid, and it may be that depending on your class you do not need a special exception in your class.
This system that we use may be optimal, but it can also be too monotonous and boring to enjoy a lot the variety that we can make to our character depending on the taste we want to improve their experience in the gameplay.
As many have explained in this thread, it depends entirely on your spec, Versatility is the #1 stat for many specs.
