SO can Aug DPS keep up with higher end or is it lower because of it being a support class?
Personal DPS will always be on the lower end, even though it has a few hard-hitting abilities. Though Details now has an option for âpredictiveâ augmentation damage to estimate how much damage they are giving with their buffs.
It depends where you look. On addons like Details, Recount, and Skada, aug damage will appear to be comparable to a healer. But thats not even close to the whole picture.
If you instead look at warcraft logs for how much theyâre contributing via buffs, theyâre about equal to higher end dps when played well.
ok i was just wondering because someone told me i was not playing the class right because my DPS was too low, but I was like 3rd or 4th a lot but i was keeping my ebon might up quite well. I enjoy the class and have better solo survival than i do as Dev, so I just wanted some advice. Thnx for reassuring me.
Whoever told you that is misinformed. That is completely normal for augmentation. Your ultimate goal is to get efficiant use out of both Ebon Might and Prescience. Its not possible to get 100% ebon might uptime unless you have cooldowns available (at least in my experience). But aiming to get as close to that as possible is the objective.
As long as you are above 50% uptime on Ebon Might you are doing something correctly.
Itâs hard right now to see what the high end for uptime on the buff is, but my personal goal is 70% over the course of a raiding night; Iâm at about 66% so thereâs still some room for improvement.
Stop looking at Aug in terms of its own personal DPS. That way of thinking is archaic and cancerous. Look at what buffs it provides and the level of pull control they have.
I will look at the following:
- my dps/damage (say 40M dmg in a dungeon)
- my scales damage on tank (another 10M)
- my healing 3rd party (10M)
- my uptime on each person for EM (so if they avg 100k dps and I had 50% uptime on EM and a 14% dmg buff I mentally add 7k dps per person) (50M avg dps so extra 3.5M x4 for 14M)
Itâs crazy fuzzy math and missing a few smaller things including prescience and the vers buff but you can see how that 40M in details turns more into 75-80M in contribution.
I mean we ran a nelthsrion +8 and did it in 12 minutes because I could buff the arcane mage up to 400k dps (priest also PId) for each boss.
Most groups who are decent immediately love aug, I wouldnât worry
Unfortunately, weâre still in the âlearningâ phase of a new class, so youâll likely encounter a lot of âfunâ people in dungeons who donât know how the spec works.
Thnx for the info, I have been doing a lot better since my post and I appreciate the advice.
